Apple or Android phones?

HTCIt must have taken me all of three minutes to set up Gmail and type in my WEP password. I don't use social networking. Otherwise, my Desire worked fine and did everything I needed out of the box. I don't understand why anyone would need to spend half an hour setting up the Desire to realise 'how great it is"?
I have set up a few Android phones (mine and the wife's G1's and HTC Wildfires) and agree that it is a very quick process.
Compared to my experience setting up Ipod Touches using Itunes I'd say Android wins IF you already have a googlemail account and calender.Hark at you going all strict0 -

Just going from reviews like this one:
techradar.com/reviews/phones/mobile-phones/htc-desire-679515/review?artc_pg=4Basically, when you turn the Desire on for the first time, you're asked to log into Google, Twitter, Facebook, Flickr (and T-Mobile's email service on our test device).
Not only does this give you access to your Gmail and populate Peep (the Desire's inbuilt Twitter application) it adds all the names from Facebook and Google contacts into the address book.
Now, here comes the science - you can then link the information all together. The phone will search for common phone numbers and email addresses, and link these profiles automatically - which is cool enough.
But then you're left with around 300 names that should go together, but aren't - a very time consuming task ahead.
Well, HTC has thought of this and while the problem isn't completely solved, there's help at hand.
Basically, the Desire will search through names and addresses and look for common themes and offer them as suggested links in the top right-hand corner of the screen - making linking a very swift process 99% of the time.
Yes, it takes around 30 minutes to set it up when you get the phone, but trust us - it's worth it.
As I said, I was impressed with the HTC Desire I saw, but as someone who already had an existing Mac setup, I prefer the integration the iPhone offers- it's basically like having my Mac with me at all times.
If I preferred to use Gmail (which obviously works fine on iPhone too) and wasn't already using Macs/iTunes/MobileMe etc then I may well have gone for the HTC Android phones.
Fortunately I don't really get into the whole partisan thing myself - like calling people with iPhones "sheep", or calling people who go on about Android phones "fandroids". They're just pieces of consumer electronics, and different consumers are going to have different preferences!Compared to my experience setting up Ipod Touches using Itunes I'd say Android wins IF you already have a googlemail account and calender.0 -
HTCAnd if you're into a post that isn't a troll, disregard Snakeeyes21.
A troll in what way? Are you denying that the iphone has a design flaw?
You are Steve Jobs and I claim my 5 pounds
The iphone may be a good phone but Apple shaft its [STRIKE]sheeple[/STRIKE] customers year after year.
!!!!!! the first phone they released had fewer features than a £20 phone from argos0 -

Nor do I. How on earth did that creep into your response to my post? There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

HTCbaby_frogmella wrote: »Really? Does Skype exist on Android? Does Amazon app exist on Android? Yes Android is open market but because of that there is so much cr ap on Android market that its difficult to find any decent apps..i would rather pay for decent apps on the iphone.
Errrr you will find that Apple release a new phone every 12 months whereas HTC release a new one every 4 minutes.
I hate Apple but i love the iphone for what it actually does, not who its made by. I also have a Nexus One so familiar with Android.
There are many many apps you see on the iphone that you will see on a Android phone. You will also see 3d games and you can sync with itunes.
I have many apps that are very useful such as London journey, catch that bus, ebay app etc etc. Some think that only the iphone has these sort of apps and some are shocked that other phones have them.
I have a desire and it is by far one of the best phones on the market but there will be better ones in the very near future. There is very little to choose from in the way what they can do (iphone and Desire) but for price and the way in which Android is 'open' makes it better. Google have also not long taken on an employee from Palm who was heading the UI of WebOS which will bring some good ideas across. As for OS, WebOS is by far the best out there and i expect HP to bring some top quality phones to market over the next 6 months. The thing about Palm is they made a phone which was terrible but an OS that is top class. Now stick WebOS on the iphone or desire and you would have the best phone in terms of hardware and OS ever made. Compared to webOS Android and iOS are stuck in the past.0 -
