think i saw some rhubarb runners coming though to:D. So going to have a go at transplanting these and growing them in pots maybe.

    rhubarb runners?

they grow from crowns, so you split it when it gets over 5yrs old to make more plants

Seem to have accumulated a lot of kiwi fruit as Dgs doesnt like then or will only eat them at his child minders! So got 8 lemons for a quid off the market and am off to make kiwi jam and lemon curd, when life chucks you cheap lemons make curd :rotfl:

Strange happeniongs here - we seem to have been adopted by a stray cat, well thats fine, however I came in yesterday and he waltzed out of the front door then I came in my office and theres another one identical asleep on my chair ??? It appears we have 2 stray cats :p not impressed with them using my bed as a trampoline at 6 am though :rotfl:

Bought the toy Dgs loves at playgroup, bargain 2 pounds off the market secondhand stall. I promised Dd I would get him one then found out they are really expensive, so am very pleased with my bargains today.

Still unpacking the garage from the building work and just found a couple of balls of chunky wool in there so can make some mitts for Xmas.

Other than that planning a quiet week of NSD's but have plenty to do. Then Dd moves out of her damp, cold miserable house on Saturday to a clean warm double glazed one that she says she can actually make look like a home - at last she will put all Dgs's pictures I have made him up on the walls.

Ginny glad to hear the family have a better place to move into :D Have you tried Kiwi and Strawberry Jam? Tis rather yum!

Kez the cats tend to laze on top of the compost bins..helps keep the heat in I suppose :rotfl:

Our weather had been pitiful today freezing with sleety rain :( I want to get in the garden! DS3 has been making soup today from the garden bits and bobs as we couldn't get out there again. He's a right little Jamie Oliver in the making :D

Just been planning the yard, and i've realised, yet again, that i don't have enough room,to do what i want to do. But i will find a way.
Going to soow seeds today and see whats happens. The last lot i sowed, nothing happened, think it was just too cold for them:(.

    .

Think vertically. :D Use every available bit of wall or fence for half moon baskets and troughs. You can build a tower of pots which is quite and efficient use of space. Something like this would work. I did it with decreasing size of terracotta pots. ;)

It's good to hear about everyone sowing their seeds.
I have started off pots and troughs in the greenhouse (unheated) of mizuna, pak choi, leaf salads, cos, parsley, basil, purple basil, baby carrots, oregano and my nasturtiums and sweet peas.
Indoors are some of the 50ish varieties of seeds that I scavenged from my MIL's magazine subs (she doesn't sow seeds) and my tomatoes, peppers and chillies. I am planning on selling some of the plants to raise funds for the school garden.
Have also prepped the ground for my brassica seedlings to go in to the two raised beds and replanted the 14 fruit bushes in the fruit cage. Along with the fruit trees (Apples, cherries and plums), I am hoping for better things this year. I do know what you mean about space though Kezlou. I have used almost every inch of my garden to grow things. I have only left 2 flower borders, 2 small wildlife ponds and the treehouse for the children. What isn't used for veggies is take over by the hens. :o We are lucky that we live a good area with parks, beaches and forests within walking distance so I don't feel too bad about taking over the garden. :D

I am so shocked by the price hikes in the supermarkets that I am taking advantage of every token and money off offer going. I did the weekly shop over 5 supermarkets today. :o But I managed to get £5 off a £25 spend in one and £4 off a £40 spend in another so stocked up on toilet rolls, washing up liquid, bread flour, dog food and wine, all of which were on special offers as well. It does mean I'm accumulating a bigger storecupboard than I would wish and has meant some serious rejigging in the utility room.;)

Mummysaver, have you heard anything about the supposed extra special offers that Te$co are supposed to be rolling out? And congrats (again) on the bump. :T

Well its bloomin freezing in Manchester! Oh just took DD shopping to save her taking Dgs for a long cold walk and he got some dry cured bacon for 19p a pack - Yay! Small victories, cheered up my lousy day. I cannot get a ball of white wool round here for love nor dosh! Want to finish a blanket for Dgs for his new bedroom. Getting on well with the stuff for the donkey sanctuary though, found some small frames in the garage for the fairy embroideries .. Hoping its a nice suprise for them when I take a box of goodies to the Spring fair!

Im glad you have had nice weather Mardatha, it must be your turn, but can we have it back when you have finished with it :rotfl:

its also a mud pit. a few more days of rain, and that run will be ankle deep and smelly

if you are keeping hens fenced in, and the run cant be moved, then i would really suggest going for a solid base, that can be washed down, and adding a layer of bark on top, that they can scratch around in to find treats/food

My enclosure turned into a mud pit too when the covering came away in the winds. I solved it by getting a huge bale of straw for £3 from the farmers supply place and scattered it around the floor. It worked instantly and smells so lovely.
