Great weather here too Mardatha, for a change! Past couple of days have been lovely...woken up to a crisp, sharp frost but then the sun shines and it melts away and it`s....*gasp*...mild.... (definately not used to that!!) so been making the most of it and working outdoors and drying washing outside. I keep hearing from places in America that lots of states don`t allow an outdoor washing line! How daft is that? It must be one of the ultimate eco-friendly household things to do!
And I love the scent of line dried washing. When I bring it indoors, unless it`s high summer I always air it off on the clothes horse before folding and putting it away. The smell of `clean` and `sunshine` is just fabulous. :)
Another nice day today (or will be when the sun comes up here) so more outdoors work and some seed sowing for the makeshift greenhouse I made out of curvy tentpoles and an old white plastic tarpaulin. :D
Hope everyone has a lovely day whatever the weather. It`s so heartwarming to see the green buds coming up at last, and to hear the songbirds again, after this frankly awful winter many of us have gone through. And at least the ruddy governments can`t tax that or take it away from us.
"Ignore the eejits...it saves your blood pressure and drives `em nuts!" :D

Haribo - thanks, again! And if there are any extra super dooper offers then nobody has told me! Nor have I noticed any! We had a big stand at the front of the store yesterday offering a price match/beat thing similar to Asda, but that was about it!

Only offers I can think of that I noticed coming through the tills were 3 for 2 of cereal, handy if you eat a lot, though I know Asda have several varieties at £1 a packet, bread flour is 50p, so bacik to a normal price, and other than that I think a lot of pizzas are on offer! There is a cleaning promo on at the mo, but that's just one of the normal promotions I think. Will let you know if I discover any thrilling or even useful bargains!

Seed planting needs to happen here too, must get on with it! Like the idea of going upwards with tubs, would also give them extra weight, so stop daft dog trying to upend them all the time! And this year I shall get beans to grow, I refuse to be beaten!

Our garden is a weird sort of arrowhead shape, wraps around the house to one side and its around 10 feet by 30 feet ish...
with a bit down the side around 6 feet by 15.
It was so badly sloped when we moved in we've had to terrace it but we cram in loads.

Along the back terrace we have apple trees, blackberries and raspberries. In front I have a wide bed I have blackcurrants in and use for potatoes etc.

In pots we have gooseberries, blueberries, plum tree, cherry and two more apples.

On the side bit we have more raspberries, redcurrants, rhubarb and loganberries, plus a tayberry and a cooker apple.

The side bed also is used for salads etc.

Last year I got rid of the picnic bench we never used and added an extra raised bed there and down on the patio I have an 8feet wide by 4 feet deep greenhouse..weird size as it has the doors on the long side but perfect for our little garden.

Round that thers more pots, strawberries.honeyberry, kiwi, jostaberry so its amazing what you can get in with a little [STRIKE]shoehorning[/STRIKE] planning:D

lol planting and digging I do well MS but plannings not my strong point I just tend to see an inch of soil and stick something in :rotfl:

Will try to get more pics on when I get a chance I've had a wall built now to replace the blagged scaffold boards as they finally started to rot after 10 years but it looks a tip out there atm :o on my way to start sorting it out now :D
  • Its been lovely here for the last four days. I just hope this isn't our summer! We grow our veg in homemade troughs. Oh lifted the last of our leeks today and has readied all the troughs for this years crop. Until we retired we had never grown anything but have had more success than failures. We are going to try asparagus this year and we bought some small apple and pear trees.

D3 I wouldnt mind some pics of the terraced bits - my daughter lives on the side of a mountain and has a huge back garden which is really bugging me cos she could grow so much there but none of us has a clue where to start or how to do it !

I am half way through this thread but just wondered whether there is some way of bookmarking it?

Redlady I just add the current page to my Internet Favourites in a folder I call "Threads I am following". When the page number changes I update the favourite and right click on the old link to delete it. There is a feature at the top of each page in the green bar which you can click on which takes you to the first unread post but sometimes it overshoots so I find this works better for me
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

Find the green bar below the banner saying important look for a heading 'thread tools' then click subscription.

To find threads again, go to 'user cp' same bar but along on the left side and there will be a list of your fav threads, updated as people post.
hope that makes sense, someone else may explain it better:o
