I could do with a good cheer up. My uncle who lives 200 miles away, passed away and I have spent the last two weeks helping to clear his house etc. We used our car to take my parents to his house as my father seems frail and my mother is getting a bit forgetful. DH and I planned to visit my parents once a week, they live an hours drive away. With this increase in fuel we don't think we are going to be able to visit so often. By us the price of diesel has gone up by 2p since last friday:eek:

Thanks for the idea Mardatha, my mum is always complaining that her feet and legs are cold. Strangly, i brought some sock knitting needles back from my uncle's home. Now I just need a pattern.January spend = £100

Its amazing, you guys have just converted Zarazara and Zend to knitters in a few short posts - well done
I went to Mr S tonight and when OH had finished browsing the magazines he found me shaking my head and nearly in tears. The prices have shot up since last week - and I mean by lots, some items 50p dearer  Its quite frightening really. they are also messing about putting things up and down in price, I guess its so they can say something is a lot cheaper than it was, because for one week they had pushed up the price. Dgs's nappies have been 3.79,4.99 and 5.99 in the last month. Yet today it was 4.99 for 24 or 5.99 for 42. I guess i need to speculate a bit and if something is cheap, stock up?
I have a feeling I am going to have to add sheep rustling to my talents soon, but I will share the fleece with you all :rotfl:Clearing the junk to travel light

I have still got a bee in my bonnet about preserving without the freezing. Doh I haven`t got a tall enough pan and I am sill thinking about pressure. I have changed my mind about ordinary pressure cookers v canners and maybe canners are just very big pressure cookers. Either way I am going to have to get another pan. I want to get this sorted before the big glut in summer0
