I take a big dose and have my level measured by my gp every 3 months, she does it if I ask. We both take 2400iu a day - you get it on Amazon. When I started I was way too low, then after 3 months I was at 52 and she said the basic acceptable level was 50. Now after a year-ish, I'm at 85 and I want to stay at that.0

I've never tried kale, will look for it at next MrS shop
Vit D is wonderful, thanks to Mardatha's suggestion that I take some some months ago, I feel so much better for it:j
Except today, where I am walking around doing a good impression of a monkey from Planet of the Apes (or bent double for the younger readers)
Got a heat pack on it and used ibuprofen gel and pills, cant ask for old style back cures as the guides would say its medical advice:cool:
yesterday; shorts/tshirt/ 25ctoday chucking down, chilly and damp:(
so today I will be writing lists, store cupboard check, winter clothes needed etc
and if it rains any harder drawing up plans for an ark!0 -
Thanks for the info. Got my Vit D levels checked a while back, must check what they were. I have 5000 IU caps but am rubbish at remembering to take them.
Haha, that's all you need M, another person enjoying kaley goodness!Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!

Thanks for reminding me about vit D, someone recommended it to me but I forgot.
My efficiency hit a glitch yesterday - when I got up to feed the hens at 6.30 I decided to put a bread dough in the Bm to mix then I was going to pop it in the oven when I get back up at 9.00am however I was on automatic pilot as per and forgot to put any yeast in:rotfl:anyone need a doorstop???
Im finding it nicer if I bake it in the oven and not the BM - 'must try harder to be awake'.....
Am spending the day making cards as I have a few birthdays and a couple of christenings before 'the C word' and am enjoying a peaceful day but my arthiritis is playing up cos I just dug up the last of the spuds and 2 parsnips - my entire crop - nobbly and many legged though they are :TClearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0 -
Have read quite a few entries on this thread and now feel really inspired to make a start. Have grown some veggies this year - varying success - but have a glut of some things. You've talked of preserving fruit by bottling and bottling veg - problem is I haven't a clue what to do, can anyone advise me please? ThanksPay off as much as you can 2011 challenge member 15:

There is also a useful (1929?) HMSO publication called something like Home Preserving of Fruits and Vegetables - can still get it from amazon. Must look for my own copy as want to make some bramble jelly and rosehip syrup this year.Jan 2011 GC £300/£150.79 (2 adults, 2 teens, working dog, includes food/cleaning/toiletries)0

It is the Ministry of Agriculture Fisheries and Food's Guide to the Home Preservation of Fruit and Vegetables.
I know this because part of the reason I bought it was I couldn't believe it had such a great name.Good stuff. If you can read it in your best Joyce Grenfell accent, then so much the better.
