EDITED- some good advice on that lung site - thank you x0 -
 Not coming back in here until the nasty lady takes the "K" word away !!!
D3, she is a carnivore. Pure and utter. She likes meat. Steak pies, mince, stew, but there's a limit on how much meat you can eat in a day eh... :rotfl:
If I could smoke fags & drink coffee then maybe I wouldnt be a stone overweight....
Oh all right then, I'll be good and I won't mention it again today. Although it was delicous and cheap and I'm having it again today. But that's the last mention for now.:A
Back to your DD, I wonder if you need to do what some Mums do and chop the veggies up small and sneak it in with the meat? Also, don't know if this would help her but after seeing a poster in a hospital, I cut down the number of colds I got by not touching my face and washing my hands lots. Apparently we mainly get the cold/flu virus by picking it up on our hands and then it gets into our mucous membranes (mouth, nose) and takes hold. We're exposed to so many bugs, can't avoid them all but this has made a difference for me.Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!

She's too old for me to cut up her food. She's 41 :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
and has her own 5 kids... Hmmm, mental picture now of me in black leggings and balaclava, sneaking up to her house, jemmying the kitchen window, and silently sprinkling chopped veg into her mince ....;)

Sorry to hear about your daughter Mar,
my dd is using superdrug own brand meal replacement powder.
Made with whole milk she gets nearly 500 calories a pint and loaded with vits and minerals. Not as a meal replacement but as an extra, to finally get over 6 stone (20 years old and 5' tall and has 'Olive oil' legs! not that I tell her that of course!)
She has gained 2Lb in 3 weeks :T whilst eating normally for her, 1 more pound and she's 6 stone
I make her up a bottle of it to take to work and she drinks it through out the day. Same stuff as Complan and Build up only cheaper.0 -
Oh never thought of stuff like that annie, ta !0

Mardatha....she knows and you know that what she really needs to do is give up smoking...am speaking as someone who only gave up 8 years ago, having smoked for almost 40 years, so not saying that will be easy.
I think that Annie's idea is a good one, nutrition is important and if she could even increase her calorie intake by a couple of hundred good ones a day it will help. On the rare occasions that I don't feel like eating I find soup very soothing and all sorts of vegetables can be included to up the nutrition....let her have her meat. Of course I realise that there is no guarantee that she will eat what she should, but surely she will try??
Good luck and hugs to DD and her children!

Wow MM. You gave up after 40 years ?!! My dad did that, he got told to stop or else at age 53, and he did. Lived to his late 70s after that.0

Not the most frugal or heart-friendly of cakes by any stretch!
Ah but they don't write recipes like they used to, that was like poetry.
