    Stop using Facebook?

    Go back to communicating with friends all over the world by pen & paper? You never know, they might enjoy it.

    I certainly have everything set like that and i'm pretty sure she does too but i'll check with her.

    But that wouldnt stop them seeing her on mutual friends statuses would it..?

    ask your friends to lock down their settyings as well
    i often see friends posting on pics/status but cant always add to it as im not friends with the original poster
    so if the majority of their friends do it then it may limit/frustrate them

    On a side issue, many folk who use Facebook do not know that many of their friends listed have their telephone number available to all and sundry.

    You can check this out by going to Account/Edit Friends/phonebook.

    At the same time, why should she be forced to quit FB because of one person? Why not just block them, ignore posts by them, etc. Find out Who's friends with this person and, since that's the company they keep, delete them as a friend. That way the malicious person won't be able to see your friends-only posts, problem solved.

    Thanks for everyones help so far. Neither of us are stupid when it comes to privacy, and we are aware of all the things (i think, although i'm sure someone will say otherwise) to do / not do etc.

    The only issue she has is about her commenting on mutual friends statuses. From what i can gather (i cant get to facebook at the mo) there is a setting about "posts by me, including status updates and photos". But dont think that covers commenting on other peoples posts?

    If there was a way to block someone who has already blocked you, that would be perfect.

    Weegie geek, thats definitely an idea but the mutual friend is a relative who she doesnt want to delete. There must be a way round it surely

    Go to the Police. In the UK there are two acts that can help with this;
    1. The Protection From Harassment Act
    2. The Telecommunications Act

    Results vary force to force - but it usually ends up with (at least) a written warning under (1) or a fixed penalty notice of £60 under (2). Repeat offence become more serious. Don't suffer it - report it and chase it with the Police. That's why they are there ;-)

    Thanks! She is considering this but would rather try to block all possible avenues of contact first. Also, would those acts still work if the person doing the harassing is abroad?

    Time for the relative to make a choice then.
