Chorizo recipes

Options
I bought a chorizo from Lidls as it was cheap but am running out of ideas of what to do with it! So far I've put it in a lentil soup and with some pasta.

Not sure what else to do with it though! Any ideas gratefully recieved!

Risotto/paella with onions and peppers - it's lovely.
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.
  • Chorizo Bake

    2 red onions sliced
2 peppers - green or red sliced
basic white sauce (butter, flour, milk)
chorizo - cut into 1/2" chunks
cheese (Manchengo is nice but any work just fine)

Put all in casserole dish (grate cheese on top of onions peppers and sausage) Bake in oven for around 35 mins. The spices in the chorizo make the sauce a nice pinky reddy colour and it's lovely with crusty bread!

This is a cracker, very much Spanish Peasant food

    Chorizo sliced
    tin of chick peas drained
    large jar passata
    2 red onions chopped
    couple teaspoons tom puree
    2x crushed clove garlic
    teaspoon paprika
    squirt chilli paste

Slice chorizo and add to large pan. Add everything else, and slow cook for at least an hour
Serve with patatas bravas or a nice crusty loaf.

    Absoulutely perfect for rainy days!

Failing that, I like it sliced really thinly with rocket on a homemade pizza ;)

    I LURRRVE CHORIZO

  • I cook it in a soup/stew.

I firstly sautee the onions with paprika and garlic, then i add white wine and stock. I then add cabbage a couple of types and other veg if you want. When its nearly done add a tin of chick peas and the chorizo but don't cook too long.

To be honest it tastes better the next day.

My spanish dad cooks it this way.:T

I think Delia does some chorizo and chicken kebabs.
Or from the Sainsbury's magazine (Jan)

    Hot Chorizo and Fino (tapas):
    315g chorizo
    1 tsp olive oil
    100ml fino sherry

Slice chorizo into bitesize pieces. Heat oil on medium heat in a frying pan and when hot (and starts to smoke) fry the chorizo. Colour each side (takes seconds) until slightly crisp. Add the sherry and leave to bubble for just a few seconds (to burn off the alcohol). Serves 8

I did have a chicken cassoulet (sp?) recipe that used chorizo in too from the Good Food magazine - which I seem to have mislaid (OH loves it :o ) so if anyone knows which one I means and have it please let me know.

    Enjoy,
    Ww
