You can dispute the bill but cancelling the DD is dangerous.

There is a £40 cap on usage, when you login to your account online at orange you have to ask to disable it. By sending a text message. If you never asked for the cap to be removed then it should still be in place.

There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies

Roaming charges arent the same as home use. The foreign carrier may take several days or longer to update the UK company about charges incurred by one of their customers. This is why its not possible to cap roaming usage.

The current EU rules relate to calls, though I think there is something in the pipeline.

I would check that it is definitely roaming data usage youve been billed for. The reason I didnt go with Orange for a Desire upgrade in the end was that the rep, after much shilly shallying about how 500mb of data was unlimited and no one ever went over it, eventually fessed up that usage over this limit would be charged at a pound a megabyte.

That England game could easily have cost the OP £300, all incurred in the UK.

Vodafone are pretty miserable but their out of bundle charges are much more lenient.

I've just been on the phone to Orange, apparently my data bundle ended on the 6th June. They said it was for only 18 months. I got the bundle back in November but my contract ends in July on the 30th. They said its because I upgraded 2 months early. However I said I was never told this. Then they said its on my bill. And they cannot speak to me about it until my bill comes out on the 22nd. It's absolutely ridiculous. I said I never asked for the bundle to be removed and it was awarded to me for being a loyal customer.

So basically this is not anything to do with abroad calls. But I am not happy and don't know what to do come the 22nd other than compalin but it sounded like they were going to make me pay it.

I've just been on my online account to check what the woman in the billing department said. She said that it shows on my bill that the bundle was ending on the 6th june. Well I looked and it wasn't there. So I tried to get a PDF full bill break down and it wouldnt let me. it says this:

"sorry, we are experiencing some issues at the moment: please try again and if the problem persists, contact us by email to report the problem and we will get back to you shortly" - how am I supposed to know when the data bundle ends if my bills are not displaying correctly because the orange online system does not work. I have printed out the web pages displaying this with dates and times as proof of this should they be required. I am also signed up to paperless billing so I never would have seen this.

Please can someone help? I'm really stuck and I cannot afford to pay them. Plus I should not have to as I have done nothing wrong.

Just managed to check my PDF bill and it says nothing about the bundle coming off my tarrif on the 6th June! The woman I spoke to was very agressive and kept interupting me. Hopefully deal with someone else on the 22nd

Does anyone know the deal with orange. If you take out a new 18month contract is it possible to change your mind after a certain number of days? The reason I ask is because they we're trying to get me to go to retentions to get a new phone on contract. Now if I do that they may clear my debt that has been worked up. But if they do that since I no longer want to be with orange can I take the phone back a few days later in what is called the cooling off period?
  • There is a cooling off period but in your situation you may find that when you send/take the phone back they will bill you for the amount they cleared when you took out the new contract.

You have 7 days to cancel if the upgrade was agreed over the phone. If a loyalty data bundle was agreed it will only have been for the length of the contract, it would have come off once the contract expired, or in this case was the 18 months was up

    Loyal customer?
I'm not sure why so many buy into that line, with all due respect, it is a way of mobile companies saying we think you are thick! :o

Ok but if they never told me it would automatically come off and they have never told me it would other than what they claim my last bill said do I have a case to get out of it? Also I've called up quite a few times and it was only yesterday they told me what was the reason for it. In the meantime the data usage has gone up on my phone for not being told what was going on when they could have told me and made me not recieve data anymore like is currently the case.

In this situation I've been trying to do something about it before the final bill which is due on the 22nd, they've been allowing me to get the bill increased more and more by not telling me until yesterday that its because the data bundle has come off my account. If they'd told me that I could have agreed to pay the extra £10 until the end of the month - when I am entitled to leave, for the add on data bundle and I wouldn't have £370 data charges to pay. There is no way I am paying them that!

I don't think you have a case and sadly I do think you will have to pay, ignorance is no defence :o
