One of those days where stuff happens: sufficiently diverse for the morning to seem a long time ago and not all of which I can discuss on here, so I will just fling a few things in to give some idea.

Spent a lot of time worrying about the guinea pig - I have mentally said goodbye so many times over the last couple of weeks but the vet says he isn't in pain and is trying a different medication. And also, when I stuck some grass and dandelions into the hutch, the GP practically wrestled the rabbit for possession of a juicy tidbit, and won. Not that's it's particularly difficult to outwit a rabbit, but for a small sickly GP to win must have taken some lack of awareness of how ill he's supposed to be.

Had my eye test for a pound - special offer and my prescription is almost unchanged so no spending on glasses.

In town I bumped into two people off my 'must do coffee' list (and said 'must do coffee' to one, and 'see you at such and such' to the other), and another two or three from various parts of my life, mostly in the supermarket where one eventually meets everyone.

The chap at the pet shop is going to take an old rabbit hutch off our hands, probably in return for some hay, and has offered to pick it up which is great as the car has once more ground to a halt.

I happened to be passing the place that does name tags and decided to order more for Mum, which turned out to be very timely as I was then told the shop is shutting soon. Of course I now want to go back as they have very good reductions on other stuff, which is not really as MS as it sounds.

The birthday cards are posted and I had the dates mixed up so they may even arrive on time. :) I have also (finally) got the anniversary card - would you believe there was a really nice one, MS too, in the first shop I looked in? That never happens.

The mini-saga of the light shade took a new turn. Old light shade being defunct, I finally got round to ordering a new one, but when I tried to put it up yesterday the fitting disintegrated. We put in an extra side lamp so we could see last night and today DH bought a new fitting. I realised my phone needed charging and got that sorted, but as I was unplugging it I knocked the extra lamp, which fell on the hearth and smashed. I swept up the fragments but left the big pieces on the side awaiting a box to put them in.

Dh arrived home just after I had put pies in the oven for tea. Of course I had not thought this one through: the electricity had to go off for him to handle the electrics and it's an electric oven. It also has an electric timer.

Dh removed the broken fitting and began to attach the new one, but realised the cable was too short. However, at this point my cackhandedness came in useful because there was suitable (and much newer) replacement cable on the broken lamp. Eventually it all got back together by which time the oven was cooling and I had no idea how long things had been in. Soooo... the pies were a bit soggy but not too bad and there was rice pudding too which is incapable of being ruffled by a minor thing like the oven going off and on again mid-cook.

Oh, and somewhere in the middle of this a friend turned up to do something magical to DD's laptop, but she had abandoned us. I was standing in the kitchen in scruffs, having got rained on earlier and completely forgotten he was coming, peeling even scruffier carrots, the lounge was full of laundry thanks to the rain and the dining room table was covered in papers which I had only half tidied up. So I was stirring the saucepan with a phone to my ear relaying a message to DD via her boyfriend while Dh hunted down the lappy and made space on the table. Our friend was far too polite to say anything more personal than it was a long time since he'd been round!

And here I am at the end of the day, reflecting on life being varied and full of surprises, but glad the GP isn't hurting and all in all feeling I have actually achieved something, even if it had nothing to do with conquering the paper mountain (though I got a bag of papers into the recycling too).

Eeee, you do so make me smile, miggy.

I keep thinking you are talking about your gp, ( as in, is there a doctor in the house)? Theres a thought. Your gp eating dandelions.

Just got in from work, and already set my alarm for 4 am. Just having 10 mins unwind with an eg, then bed. xx

Well getting you to smile is quite something so I shall not call this day wasted :) Hope you got some sleep, if it were me I think I would be tempted to sleep in the car and save myself a few hours on the road but then who would see to the GP? :D

I also have difficulty attaching pronouns to the GP and the vet - just as well they can't see this or there would be some very raised eyebrows!

    Thanks Lemon Tree :)

Piggy back to vet today - between us we decided it would probably be better not to operate, just continue with the antibiotics and if things go down from there... :( It does appear the GP isn't in pain and is eating well so we are now onto weekly visits all else being equal.

NSD and loads of sleep as the house was silent with no one else around. I'm back in to work shortly and trying to keep quiet from them that my shoulder (mentioned vaguely a while ago) is causing me problems. I think at the moment I would rather manage it myself (Dr. early next week if it goes on being a pain) and risk something at work making it worse, than go sick. The balance is that most of the time I can do thigns left handed if necessary and if that doesn't work, I can still take care and if necessary admit there might be things I can't do.

Yes, I can still type! :)

    Ah well.

Got in from work this morning to find the guinea pig sleepily stretched out in the hay and not moving. :( Hadn't expected it quite so soon but I'm glad it was peaceful.

Other than that - had a sleep, went to look at a possible new car and did some clothes shopping for and with DH and DS. This is never entirely positive but DS has enough school trousers now and Dh has a dressing gown. We are still talking to each other. We also got a good discount on Sunday lunch due to DD's staff card. :) Just as well as we might be feeding seven - or there again, five, or it might just be three.

    Nice to know these things!

I have to say I'd quite like to go stretched out in the hay.

Hi miggy sorry about the GP. Yes not a bad way to go. Hope you are doing ok about it all. I had to laugh at the electrical goings on. And the state of the house when the friends came round. That is what would happen to me also! glad it all got sorted

Thanks for the commiserations everyone. GP is missed but remaining small furry has had extra hugs and seems to okay. Fairly chilled day today and NSD as far as the Miggy finances go (spent some of Mum's money on her behalf).

DS and friends safely back from hols, we had seven to feed this eveing but DH did the cooking. :)

Nothing else to report just now, back tomorrowish.
