Kind of poised to launch into the coming week, though I may well try to catch up on sleep in the morning.

Tasks for tomorrow include finding my purse (kept swapping bags till I have lost track but there's no money in it anyway), buy anniversary card and do a massive tidy up of the house as I have friends coming in the evening and it's not fit to be seen. I sense a stash and dash in the offing.

The decluttering list has sunk without trace (probably under papers) over the weekend so I need to get back to it with a vengeance.

DS1 is spending the week somewhere hot and sunny and DS2 has suddenly gone down with the bug that's beset his siblings recently - so I may or may not be having those friends round, if he's still not right tomorrow. :(

DH helpfully turned the PC off before he went to work this morning so I wouldn't be tempted and could get some tidying done. Needless to say half way through the first bit of tidying it went on again and I've caught up on several diaries!

I have also tidied half the cards drawer (having bulk-bought a few times as it's much cheaper and means I don't always have to go searching the sops at the last minute when I invariably have better things to do). I still haven't got DH's anniversary card but did come across one bought specially for a friend whose birthday is later this week. :)

Guinea pig didn't look so bright last night so that's casting a shadow over me.

As usual I am letting myself get overwhelmed instead of getting on with things and doing something is better than doing nothing (at least when it comes to tidying) - so I shall go and do 'something' that will make life easier for me. I think it will have to be sorting the rest of the cards and putting the drawer back but I have a few cards there that I know I'll never use so they can go to the charity shop and maybe someone else will love them. :)

I'll also have a look at my lists and see if they've done anything over the weekend. (The declutter one hasn't).

Of course having posted that I have remembered things to add:

DS is at school despite illness yesterday. He's very keen on his perfect attendance record and he actually looks okay - so let's hope thy don't ring to send him home or worse, he decides to stay despite feeling bad.

The washing line is full of towels and bedding is still to go in the machine. At least the neighbours will think I'm industrious :D: they don't know I went round disinfecting everything he'd touched (except the sofa, which I then sat on, so am hoping the germs mysteriously didn't get on there).

The car amazingly started working again, but not before we'd had the MOT done (early) and found that the starter motor plus corrosion to the body work will cost far too much so we need to look for a new car. I'll be sad to see this one go though it will probably be around for a few weeks yet as there is still a couple of months on the old MOT. Next car will need to be smaller and cheaper to run - and we have no excuse like three teenagers to cart round this time, so we really don't need the space and power. :( I'm no petrol head but it's been nice to have a really comfortable ride that just did exactly as it was told without any muscle power involved. It feels as though we've reached the top of the hill and from now on it's downhill!:eek: Pull your socks up Miggy, it's a car, and a noisy old one at that, and you are not supposed to care about what other people think.

(Window cleaner just arrived - I hastily got dressed, gave him a cup of tea and had a chat and have now nearly finished the cards!)

I have a sore shoulder which seems not to be going away (soreness not shoulder). I'm thinking it might be RSI as my computer desk - shared with family - is not the right height for me and my glasses prescription needs to be checked as my eyes are changing rapidly, meaning I sit at the wrong distance from the screen to have my wrists supported properly. Solution - give up computer.

    Nooooo.

Off to make a huge impact on our environment and amaze DH, kids and friends with our lovely, welcoming, trendy home.

First I am going to put the kettle on. ;)

I am so with you that tidying up starts with putting the kettle on first LOL.

Over here you have a bag in a your kitchen bin, and then have to put it into a rubbish bag (coloured for the right collection day), so I am trying to make a point of filling up the bag before it goes out. That way a few bits of tat are leaving the house each week, so I don't feel QUITE so bad!

That's a good idea, Chev. I found two bags of newspapers last night - Mum had handed them to me and I was too tired to do anything but dump them at the the time. I've checked through one and put the papers in the recycling this morning.
I've kind of abandoned my grand decluttering list - too many gaps; it was becoming disheartening. I need to keep on with the actual work, though.
This afternoon's job is to visit Mum and post the birthday cards, get some food in and put another load of laundry on (second today).

I'm worrying about a couple of MSE friends who aren't around - where are you both? Hoping you're okay though I know things aren't good with either of you. :(

One friend safely found - now down to one to worry about.
    Also a guinea pig.

Mum visited, couldn't remember me bringing her some books last time so I've written various things down for her. She's been doing well, memory-wise recently and this is a set back but... BUT... she says she would want to move out except that she likes her room. That's a real positive. (I suggested she take it with her, we had a laugh and changed the subject).

Piano lesson went okay, birthday cards got mislaid so haven't been posted and will now be late :(.

And we treated ourselves to a new lampshade which has arrived and is very nice (and better than the bare bulb!) but as I removed the bulb, the holder came to pieces so we can't enjoy our new shade until we can replace it and the room is half dark because we can't replace the bulb!

We seem to be living in a house of things that break down - car, bike, light and the usual suspects such as drinking glasses and the like! And it's getting dark earlier and colder in the eveings... if I disappear don't worry. Hibernation calls. :)
