I meant to say - it's been an MS day. I haven't bought a single thing for DD to take to Uni.Miggy

I'm having a distractable day. Squirrel? Bubblewrap? Lenticular cloud? Anything can set me off course.
I tidied the under-sink cupboard and refilled the dishwasher salt, combined some part-filled containers where possible and have done some laundry. Now I'm off to see Mum.
DD has heard that her job can't be transferred to a branch nearer her Uni so she's looking at cleaning jobs in the area. She has to decide when to give up her current job (though they may find her a few hours at Christmas).Miggy

I was so distractable earlier that I completely forgot to mention I got the bathroom cleaned and threw some carrier bags out from the bedroom (discovering a Toffee Crisp as I did so. Needless to say that will not be in the way any more).
Visit to Mum went well, and on the way there I wombled another 87p.
I forgot to mention the other day that having run out of washing powder and the offer had finished on the posh stuff, I then found they had marked down a packet of that identical one because of damage - so I got it at better than offer price.
DD has been making the most of her staff discount combined with end-of-day mark-downs so we've had loads of treats over the past couple of days - dinner cost 20p today. As she says, may as well make the most of it!

And here we are again - second Thursday of Doom (results day) DS2 did rather as expected.
Slightly worse maybe? However, he has probably got enough to get him into sixth form... well he has to arrange that this afternoon.
It's a bit sad when there is honestly no way I could say 'well done' for most of it, but I did manage to find something: he got his English Language which was necessary but is the subject he struggles most with. He also has Maths, but not as good as expected, and some others at C grade with Ds for Chemistry and Physics. He's philosophical about it, I think... and now the poor lad has gone to have another tooth out ready for a brace!
ETA: Reading back on this it sounds as though I am the most unsympathetic, unsupportive parent, but we told him before the exams that he needed to put in a lot more work than he did.
I'm working again tonight and tomorrow night and the night after - not a lot of free weekends this month!Miggy

Hi Miggy,
I agree that it's well done that he did achieve enough to get through to sixth form.
You don't sound unsupportive at all. Telling him he did great and you're proud would have sent wrong long term messages, but this way it sounds like you did right by him.
Good luck with all those working hours!0 -
Ahh, thank you peeps!
I never quite said 'I told you so'... but we both went on and on at him back in the days when he was supposed to be working. The trouble is he has brains and is used to being able to scrape through everything without trying much... er... a lot like his Mum in fact.:o:o
He had a dental appointment at lunchtime and came back with a small bag containing a very gory molar, so now he has two gaps and filing... just as well he has a trophy from the experience!
We went to see about his Sixth Form place which was clearly not good news - they won't let him do Maths on the results he has - he can retake and do an AS next year but he's not keen. He decided of his own accord not to attempt Chemistry, which is probably just as well as it's supposed to be very hard. We think they might allow him the Biology A Level, and Business Studies, then he has to find one more. He doesn't have to decide right now so we've left it to percolate through.
Two nice things for him yesterday though - his provisional licence is through (I didn't even know he'd sent for it! He used some of the money his Nan left him, which I think is a very good use of it) and he had a party in the evening. I don't know how he fared there but even with jaw-ache it will have been a welcome distraction.
Today I caught up on sock sorting and fighting the mountain of clothes which no one had put away, then bought a birthday present which has to be ready for tomorrow... and paid Mum's cleaner (late. Oops).
And... I have twenty mins before I'm off to work again.I got bargainaceous sandwiches last night - 22p instead of £2, and 2 pints of milk for 27p the other day. I think that's it for bargains for now.

Well thanks for prayers...
Just about to go out to volunteering. Was very bad on thursday and friday. Fortunately Mr G and his DW got me sorted. Have put lippy on so away we go now. Though it's cold and sure there's a pidgeon in my flat. Can't find it and there's no feathers but still
Somehow I have also managed to spend my £50 whoopsie money I had left this week  ..Don't quite know how that happened
Anyhow if I'm well this next week I'll have a wee ride down to A and Mr Al and get some bargains. Praise God I need very little veg this week

Finished work 9.30 this morning, slept from 10 till 1.30 then spent the rest of the day travelling or being at my niece's birthday party, which was fun - anyone want to settle a giddy five year-old down after her aunty has been pretending to post her through the letter box or dump her in the bin? Or after she has persuaded a few kind / soft adults to play 'sleeping lions' (you lie on the floor and when the music plays you laugh as loudly as possible)?
Anyway I am back on my home planet and think I may go for an early night.
Oh, and DD mentioned she was going to Uni and was immediately presented with a huge cutlery drawer and told to help herself, which will save a few pounds! What generous people.Miggy
