Hi there! This is the Old Style Daily Thread for Thurs 8th July. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
[*]As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
[*]When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
[*]Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Morning all,

Morning Redruby & All to follow.
Have a busy day planned, OH decided to decorate DD's bedroom as a treat for her birthday so yesterday was spent painting walls which was most unexpected. Today I have to take DS to a taster session at his senior school. Get paperwork & ironing done & as much housework as possible as have family over tomorrow for DD's birthday.Whilst DS is at his taster session will pop into Asda and get some bits for a barbecue tomorrow.
DD's bedroom will be finished today, must admit am very pleased with it as is she, but when she came home from school & saw all her stuff in the hallway she thought we were throwing her out :rotfl:
Not entirely sure what is on the menu plan for tonight, will definately be something with lettuce as still have loads to use up.
Have a great day & (((hugs))) if you need/want one.x0 -

Morning!
Well its a grey muggy morning here in boro, with more rain forecast.
I'm off to the knee clinic today to see if i get this darn splint off. After that well it depends on my knee and what the verdict is.
Think were having soup or rissoto for tea, right going to have a cuppa , get kids sorted and head for the hospital x0 -
Morning All
Last day at work for me then I'm off for ten days :j I'm then back for two days and off for another four
I have about 25 MS jobs to do over the next four days but then I'm doing nothing as the house needs some TLC!
DH is working tomorrow, Sunday, Monday & Tuesday so I'll have all the kids as it doesn't look like the step-kids are going to see their mum this weekend as her boyfriends mum is in hospital - not sure why that stops her seeing her kids for the two days she does get them every two weeks but hey-ho her choice. Just means I'll throw all three littlies in the car and head off and get my jobs done - they think its great! If its nice i'll stop at a park somewhere if they behave!
DW is on and WM will go on before I leave, my lunch today is a MS job and kids and DH will have Sandwiches. Dinner is tuna pasta bake.
Have a good day

Morning all
Dull, overcast and very muggy here. Now on days off from work, so will be doing all the normal jobs.
Will be much happier on Sunday once we have new caravan packed with all the kit that is scattered around my house at the moment! Everywhere feels such a mess. Will be collecting caravan on Saturday afternoon after OH comes back from his meeting in Ipswich, then we'll get it packed on Sunday.
DS2 goes on his residential school trip on Monday so need to get his bag organised, clothes named etc. Dinner last night was spag. bol and tonight it will be something with new potatoes, possibly fish. Have got some green beans, tomatoes and potatoes growing in our garden, we've never grown anything before and we don't really known what we are doing but we've had a few potatoes already and they test ok! We also have a wonderful sunflower that has 4 heads on it, it really looks lovely.
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Morning everyone.
Didn't get chance to post yesterday - laptop needs to go away to be fixed as the DVD/CD drive isn't working. It goes on Friday so I hope it comes back soon......
Just not enough hours in the day at the moment
Housework has taken a complete back seat so far this week
DS had sports day yesterday. He did really well. Came 2nd in his first race but the staff watching the line didn't place him  and he came 3rd in his other race. He sat really well and it was only after his second race that he got upset - he'd had enough by this time. I could soooooooooo be the competitve mother though
:rotfl:
Tea tonight is Devilled sausages (which is basically another BBQ sauce :rotfl:BBQ sauce twice this week, hope H doesn't mind
)
Load of washing on but we've got light rain so will have to hang it indoors. Not much OS other that and cooking tea
:o
Not read yesterdays thread - hugs where needed xx
Have a good day OS or not.
Edited to add:
Thunderchild - welcome
Not a fan of Jeff Waynes musical War of the Worlds are you?? I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

Do an online sainsbugs shop(got free delivery) keeping my fingers crossed that DS1s car is finally repaired today and that it doesn't cost the earth(new gearbox)
Lunch will be a jacket spud - dinner is somwthing quorny:D just havent decided whether to do bolognaise or chilli yet - so far chilli is in the lead!
Redruby - thankyou re my job - am optimistic that we will struggle through at work as we are a very specialist service but there will obvously have to be some sort of cutbacks.

So I can do list as I go along and it saves it, hubby can add to it from his phone and then whoever it going to shop has the list of whats needed lol Best bit is can also do it online and it just updates the phone.

Morning :hello:
A couple of days ago, I scraped my knuckles down a brick wall. It's the chickens' fault, if they hadn't broken through the wire fence round the raspberry bushes, I wouldn't have done it
I was pushing a bamboo cane into the ground and it snapped. I scraped, froze and waited for the pain, half a second later and there it was. And there my skin wasn't  It's still painful now if I try to move my fingers, feels like the skin is going to rip open. I thnk I might have chipped a bone. I can't even pick up a mug with my left hand and having a shower is a job and a half.
I've managed to collect eggs and do a bit of weeding with my right hand, and that's it

Morning All ,
Having a bit of a low moment - just totally sick of 2010. Takes a lot for me to run out of steam, and I'm annoyed at myself that I feel like I'm almost there
DH's work have been really awful and unsupportive - I guess their point of view is that there's only so much compassion for one person in one year. He's had an ongoing issue with this woman (who isn't his superior but gets away with acting like it) and she basically ordered him to come into work on the day of the funeral so that she could have a lunch break. It's not the first instance of this sort of thing, she granted a friend of hers a week's compassionate leave whilst the friend's mother was in hospital for a minor complaint but treats everyone else differently. And more to the point, she doesn't have the authority to grant special leave but the manager is frightened of her and lets her get away with it! I think the woman is mentally unstable - she drove one new girl out of the branch after a couple of months as she had once worked with the woman her ex-husband had an affair with!! DH is now raising a formal grievance as this is really the last straw but we could really do without the added pressure.
Anyway, had a go at OSing last night and made some pasta - does anyone else find it difficult to think of meals for summer that don't totally centre around salad?
I don't want to be stood in front of a hot hob either really.
Oo another OS question, does anyone use the Tesco's Value washing powder? It's definitely changed, it used to be good, but I've noticed it's not getting everything clean  Any advice? I've just bought a new box so I don't want to chuck it out but I'm probably not saving any money because I'm having to re-wash stuff!
Hugs to all, have a lovely day xxSometimes that mountain you've been climbing is just a grain of sand,
What you've been out there searching for forever is in your hands0
