So, umm, let me see.... 4 dogs + say 8 pups, why that's a total of 12 dogs and pups! There's no point in quibbling and pretending that pups aren't dogs. That's a distinction that nobody else will share with you. You need to be realistic. :)

    You retard.
talking about a total of 12 dogs + puppies

    Twelve plus puppies.

I have a constant four, plus a litter of puppies which might be around 6, but we're heading wayyy off topic.

I love dogs but I wouldn't want to live next door to a breeder. This is NOT your perfect home, as there is a covenant expressly forbidding you keeping more than two dogs. Maybe the neighbour is allergic to dogs, maybe they work shifts or have insomnia and the 'small' noise will not be so small to them. I know of several people who partly chose their apartment as the development did not allow pets.

I have a cat and I completely understand that others don't feel the same way about my pet as I do, why don't you get that? If you were as mature as you claim you'd know rescues are overrun with with unwanted dogs, including Boxers. You'd also know that being "very considerate" is about a lot more than not breaking the law.

    I 'love' people like you.

Thank you soo much for sharing your thoughts with us all. It's a shame most of the points you've made bring nothing to the original question I've asked.

I will remember to ask my future neighbour if they're allergic to dogs or suffer from insomnia. (!!!!!!?!)

How the **** have we got on to the topic of breeding dogs and unwanted dogs, someone making me an evil person that should be shunned from the city. Get a grip.

I think I've got about as much sesnse as I can on the subject from you all.

Thanks to all those that posted relevant comments.

Please don't say your GSDs are not good with children? I grew up with lots of GSDs, as did my children. I really hate it when dog owners (especially GSD owners as GSDs are "my" breed) blame the children for their dogs antisocial behaviour around children.

Poor breeding has caused lots of health and temperament problems in GSDs, so I only buy my GSDs from well known breeders with a proven breeding record of good health and temperament.

No, you misunderstood my point, I have 2 male GSDs now, one of them is really big. I always buy from breeders who use their dogs for working and not showing, so that they are intelligent, sociable and big and square and not the skinny types with those awful sloping backs and bad hips.

My largest boy is a real softie. I take him on walking holidays and everywhere we go he gets admired and cuddled. Last April we were in a pub and three little children came up and they were lying on him, cuddling him, kissing him. He just rolled over on his back and looked stupid, he loved it.

No, my comment about children meant that most people I know who moan about dogs have themselves got right brats of children who are so undisciplined they make any dog look like an angel. These people moan if your dog as much as looks at their kids, but their brats are usually little horrors.

The truth is that 4 dogs plus puppies is a lot of dogs. These covenants can cover many things, one I noticed recently was no commercial vehicles, now your neighbours may turn a blind eye if you have a taxi in your garage but would be less likely to do so should you park a lorry and trailer in the street.

Lots of people like dogs, to be honest I'm not a massive fan and prefer my birds, but no matter how much anyone likes dogs I strongly doubt your neighbours are thinking "oooh, I hope someone buys that house and has ten dogs"

You should really speak to someone who has some idea what they are talking about, whether such a covenant can be enforced, whether it is likely to be, what the consequences would be if it was enforced. Not sure how you would feel to the new neighbours if they enforced the covenant and you had your dogs taken away from you or put down.

Is this really the house for you?

I am still under the impression that only the originator can enforce a convenant. Even though the neighbours may have the same convenant, I thought that they have to get the originator to enforce it. I certainly stand to be corrected if I'm wrong. I would be very interested in what your legal guy says.

I think you might struggle to get on with your neighbours, with or without your dogs.
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

I think OP is missing the point being made by some of the posters. The points split into 2. First, do your neighbours have the benefit of the covenant you mention and two, if they do, are they likely to enforce it.

Question 1 can only be answered by your solicitors. Personally I would be surprised if the covenants were not mutual and were not passed from originator to sellers. However, I am not an expert in these matters.

Question 2 can only be answered by your actual neighbours but, as highlighted in this thread, there are many reasons why an average person would not be happy about living next door to the situation you describe. The responses in the thread suggest that there is a reasonable chance that, if your neighbours do have the benefit of a covenant, they may well try to enforce it, which will end up in grief and expense for you.

Any dog bigger than a cat should only be allowed in the rural countryside. They are a nuisance to neighbours, parks and just about everybody.

OMG!!!! I had no idea my dog was such a problem. My next door neighbours cat--now that IS a problem. Ruddy thing poo's in the flower beds and sings outside our house at night time. I think all cats should be humanly skinned and made into coats.:D

GJUK you say in one post that you want both positive and negative comments, yet a few posts later you call one poster a retard and say about another I 'love' people like you.

In your OP you asked for our ideas about the situation you find yourself in. People have gone to some trouble in commenting and giving their opinions but you appear to only want to hear from people who have views that agree with yours.

Please try to read posts without getting abusive. If nothing else hopefully you will realise that there are a range of views on dogs. Wherever you end up living, with a covenant or not, your neighbours may not be as delighted with your dogs as you are.
