Don't give up a tenancy with a HA, to go into private rented accommodation. You have no security of tenure, as you know the cost of renting will be far higher. if you give up your tenancy & then get notice from a private ll any homeless application you make will probably come back that you made yourself intentionally homeless as you gave up your last settled accommodation.
Keep a detailed diary, when the noise gets bad contact the HA, they may have an out of hours line, if not then the council will. Report everything & keep notes of it. Keep on, hopefully the HA will eventually do something, if you're a terrace of 5 what are the other 2 neighbours like? If similar to yourselves get them onboard & report together.
I would def report to social services & for benefit fraud.0 -

Been there, done that, waste of time.the last thing I wanted to do was give up the security of h.a but believe me I'd rather live in private rented than put up with some of the scum that live in these ha houses.Went shoplifting at the Disneystore today.

Can I just say, my OH works for a HA. He works bloody hard, and half of his problems stem from dealing with attitudes like yours, especially from people in private and private rented.
There is 'scum' as you put in in all walks of life. They can live in HA properties and just as easily live in their own private and private rented homes.
Lindseykim, all the 'scum' are not moved from one place into a new place. Housing that is not up to standard is usually worked on with customers in situ. Very very rarely are the moved.
New builds are needed to meet the ever growing need for social housing, especially with the recession. There are more than enough new customers to fill these properties without moving them from others.
Some people on here would do well to think on. One day your lives could collapse and you could find yourself living in HA accommodation. It happens to people every day.0 -
