Vasectomy good or bad?

I had mine yesterday at a local clinic, all fine so far, minimal pain sorted with some paracetamol. The operation was a little uncomfortable one testicle is moved over the other as only one incision is made. That was the worst part for me. My doctor said everyone is different and some people are easier to 'manipulate' than others. My advice get some frozen peas on asap after the operation even if it feels ok as it takes 4-6 hours for the feeling to return. This will reduce the swelling/bruising.

I had mine done some 9 years ago now. No problems whatsoever. I did have an easy weekend planned and just chilled. Back at work fine on the Monday. I had it done on a thursday.
I didn't actually have any pain, but I did have slight discomfort for a couple of days. I was trundling around Tesco's the day after the op doing a family shop. Shame that this forum wasn't around at the time, as I'd have been looking out for bargains
I think it was a good decision to make at the time and have never regretted it for a minute.
Oh, just did a search on the dontfixit site mentioned earlier. Interestingly, all the sites that link to it are predominantly American religious sites that advocate natural family planning, and taking a quick peek at the URL, it seems the guy who runs the thing advocates this too. Natural family planning is basically not using birth control of any form.
I'm not overly sure about the accuracy of the site, as it seems the guy just so happens to use it as a shop window to sell his self published books. Alwo found https://www.dontfixit.info that goes into great depth to refute the claims made.
To be honest I'd rely on the feedback from the good people on this board rather than American fundameltalist control freaks.
To the MSE question eariler in the thread "Is there a moneysaving way of doing a snip? Ice cubes and nail scissors, anyone?"
Erm - yes!

I had some harsh pain about twelve years after and did not associate it with the op and was seriously concerned for some time that something far more serious was going on, concerned about insurance and worrying the missus I kept schtumm for a long time and stressed myself out unecessarily, only to be told by the doc it was almost certainly related to the op and not uncommon at all, b*stards could have told me twelve years before though!!!!
By the way for about a week my nads were bigger than my head! And I didn't know whether to be worried, flattered or just p*ssed off about the consultants discussion about "what a fine sample I have in my hands" !!!!!! was all that about the cheeky b*stard:eek:   :eek:Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -
Just a follow up to my previous post, It will be seven days tomorrow and all seems ok. Still a little uncomfortable but not really any pain. Hopefully the stitches will fall out soon as they are becoming a little tight.

Like a previous post Mr. Old had 3 tubes and done privately very quickly via a treat from his MIL so it was mentioned that the NHS might not have noticed the extra one...debatable that maybe....a little discomfort for a few days was all Mr Old experienced...cannot believe he had it done in his late 20's but having One arrive in '68 and Two in '69 no way just no way where 3 going to arrive in '70...and looking at the family birth history it was really possible.
We both think it was worth taking that route... no regrets and no problems over all this time. Mrs. H0 -
Well i went with the poll results and encouraged him to go through with it and regretting it. It is now week 2 and he is still off work and in pain. He has now got and infection and internal bleeding inside scrotum and still swollen. Dr gave him some iodine spray but i was expecting him to be on antibiotics. Did anyone else have problems like this at first(what did they give you?). Also are you the ones that had problems long after it healed?.... I feel so guilty encouraging him to do it now!0
