Vasectomy good or bad?

DH 14 years ago. The best thing ever as I was appalled at the thought of getting pregnant after bad deliveries(and following surgery) which meant another could be risky for me. He was uncomfortable after for a couple of days and had to remember not to cross his legs for a couple of weeks :rotfl: but that was it. Sex life improved as fear of pregnancy removed.
Whatever surgical procedure you mention human nature dictates people like to tell of their 'nightmares'. I could say a thing or two about childbirth in relation to me but would it stop women having babies? ...exactly0 -

We got the counselling appointment within a week and the op two weeks after that on the NHS. DH was 35 with 2 kids, I was 33 with none - no problems having to convince anyone it was what we really wanted. The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.0 -
I had mine done more than 20 yrs ago.
My only regret was that I didn't have it done sooner. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

DH had snip 20 years ago. Very straightforward, and very little pain or discomfort afterwards, but after 2 semen tests was still firing on all cylinders!!!
Doc wanted him back in for further op under general anaesthetic. In the meantime DH managed to break arm, so was in plaster when he went in hospital for repeat vasectomy. When he came round, chap in next bed asked him what he was in for, and when told 'vasectomy', said, 'blimey, you put up a bit of a fight!!' :rotfl:
Turned out he had 3 tubes(which did no end of good for his ego, 'superstud' etc etc;) ) and the Dr had to remove quite a section from all 3, but NO CHANCE of a reversal. Fine with me...;)
After that, no probs, and good for our sex life, as no worries of a slip up:D
HTH and gives you a giggle!:rotfl::beer: My glass is half full :beer:0 -
I had mine done 26 years ago and because I am a big baby had a general instead of a local. I couldnt bear the thought of seeing what the doctor was doing or hearing him talk to others. It was fine and I didn't feel a thing.
The best bit however was before the operation when the nurse examined me to check if I (my OH) had shaved properly.;)

My husband had to wait les than 6 weeks for his. It's quicker & they're more gentle if they have a local rather than a general anesthetic. They do them at special clinics now - no need to go to hospital.
My husband was 30 when he had his but we have 3 kids.Keep Calm:cool: Smile, Enjoy!

DH said the most tramatic part was having another man handling his bits and carrying on a conversation at the same time!
We women don't have that problem - my female gynecologist looked up at me during my post-hysterectomy check-up and said 'Ooh you have a lovely vagina!'The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. :rotfl: My GP tells me jokes whilst doing my smear
When my husband had his vasectomy done the doctor at the surgery (it was done at a local gp surgery) asked me if I wanted to watch  As I feint at the first sight of blood/needles I politely refused.
We went for the initial consultation on the Friday evening and the doc said he had a cancellation for 9am the following morning. My husband went as white as a sheet - but had it done
YUK! Although lots of people I've told said they'd love to watch their husbands op :rotfl:Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -
My DH was sooo scared he got cramp in his back from tensing up. That was more painful than the vasectomy:D :rotfl:Keep Calm:cool: Smile
