My DH just mentioned it to GP when he went for something else. He has hasn't had to see anyone about it as i thought he would as he's only 33. It's taken about 3 months altogether.

My cousins wife works at our hospital and we've just found out she will probably be assisting with it!!! I feel embarrassed, DH not bothered in the slightest!!

  • Had the snip 18 years ago after child number 3. Now also have 16 year old daughter! At least snip number 2 was given free. On number one occasion, it happened that the nurse assisting happened to be a neighbour!!

My husband has a vasectomy booked in very soon and his brother had one with no problems & no pain now but we were put in horror by a friend saying dont do it and they lie to you as you get horrendous pain forever after and he only discovered this afterwards when it was too late but encouraged us to look at site https://www.dontfixit.org which is very negative about it to say the least but i know i could do a search & find people that think its fine & never had any problems. We have another friend who has had pain long after also but would like to get an accurate picture of the average jo .
So i dont want to know about other alternatives(ive had 3 kids and the last birth was terrible so its his turn & he agrees).
So if you have had a vasectomy over lets say 2 months ago do you still get some sort of pain or some other bad side effect from it still? Please vote in poll above if you /partner have had one. Thanks

A friend of mine had bruising and swelling ... he was known as Gonzo for years.

My colleague had to have two vasectomies, as the first one didn't work - he was still firing on all cylinders.

I have a friend who is one of the few who suffered long term pain afterwards. He had it done about 5 years ago and still gets what he calls 'ballache' like a cramp that won't go away, it can last a few hours up to a day or so, then goes away again for a while. He says it is pretty painful when it happens, but regular painkillers take the edge off it, and it doesn't stop him doing sport or anything.

He still doesn't regret having it done, and says it's nothing compared with what his wife went through in childbirth! He hasn't put my OH off either, who will hopefully be getting snipped in the next year or so. :-)
When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.

Is there a moneysaving way of doing a snip? Ice cubes and nail scissors, anyone?

If you've just had a baby, you have to wait 6 months if I remember rightly, in case, God forbid anything happens to the babe and you have second thoughts.

My youngest is almost in high school, so no worries there!

I dunno, chatting while you have your smear done makes me feel pretty embarrased but i just act as if its just a regular daily even as you do!!!

By the way im interested about the "horrendous side effects" poll voter. Id like to hear why & how long he has been in pain for.

My OH had his done about a year ago - we have 4 kids. Our local clinic is in Balls Road! LOL He was a bit sore for few days - off work for a week cos they have to wear these sort of tight overalls, so he couln't wear them. No problems since. Did take 5 samples to get the all clear though - persistant little b****rs.

Anyway Plus points - no more babies!!

Oldest daughter says if I had any more she would leave home - I said so would I!!!
