as a previous poster said as long as their not 'blown' or the tins are damaged at all I would happily scoff them I buy the big fridge jars when they're on offer at a quid in Iceland as they are the equivilant at a kilo of four tins and as their 'Heinz' they are darned good quality and work out at 25p per normal size tin cheaper than the value ones..They are full of protein and can be added to so many things apart from just toast I use them as a jacket spud filler or even with a main meal as an extra veg.chuck them in a lasagne to streeeetch the mince out a bit. With four of my grandson who eat for England they are a great tummy filler :):)

Is this me and lousy maths but the normal sized tins are 410g which means that the 1kg is just over 2 1/2 tins therefore Im not sure that they are such a bargain??

Maybe the OP buys small tins of beans? I've never bought them, so no idea what weight they are.

Your right I do as I live alone so a kilo jar is far more practical for me than lots of small tins .Although I usually save a few small empty tins to use to bake my individual Chritsmas cakes that I decorate and give as small gifts to ladies in my similar position.A large Christmas cake is far too much whereas a small one decorated and iced is a very acceptable gift for several of my friends and neighbours.Goes down a treat in a small hamper as well

Baked bean lasagne is one of my favourites - I've slightly adapted the recipe but there are many forms of it online

Fry 2 onions and 2 peppers with a few cloves of garlic.

Add two tins tomatoes, 2 tins beans and a splosh of balsamic if you have it.

Add extra veg as to your taste - I add carrots,
courgettes, baby corn - depends what's lying about. Add another tin of beans and tomatoes if required.

Let it simmer a long time, adjust season etc to taste. I add chilli/chilli flakes to give it a kick. Sometimes add basil or mixed herbs.

Layer in lasagne dish, lasagne, sauce, lasagne . Cook for ten mins, top with cheese and cook until bubbly

I freeze the mix made up in tubs as well :) This size with extra veg would make up approx. 6 individual sized lasagnes (pound shop ones)

it's a lot better than it sounds, believe me!

Annemarie and JackieO - why did it not occur to me you could be using the smaller tins?! Sorry - it just goes to show how easy it is to forget other people dont do the same as yourself!
