I've never saved up for Car things or Christmas.
Usually pay for insurance (both home and car) monthly by DD so that is always worked in to where the money goes.
Car tax has always just been paid when needed.
The only thing I do to prepare for Christmas is to save up my Tesco Clubcard Vouchers to use for presents. Have got £28.50 so far, which is better than nothing! I tend to make full use of Boots 3 for 2 and the BHS sale too.
Going to suggest to my sister that we cut down on what we spend on each other this year too, she has a wedding to pay for so she'll probably welcome that idea

How gorgeous is she?!?!?!?! *cue lots of baby talk that seems to happen round cute dogs* :rotfl:
I know its a bit late now seen as she is at the vets but im sure the rspca do the op for free (or for a donation). She will be fine though, lots of cuddles and spoiling when she gets hoem will make you feel better.
There was the money watch programme on last night where martin was saying about student loans, and basically said the same as everyone here, put the money into a high interest account before paying off to gain some extra pennies. Better in your pocket than theirs.
EDIT: this post prob wont make much sense as seem to have missed a page, doh!!! promise to keep up in future.December 2018: £20,850.24. Now: £18,333.02 Total paid in 2019: £2517.22

You wouldn't want her all the time, look how patchy the grass is, OH is doing his nut! 'Grass is ruined, never gonna grow back normally now!' :rotfl:
And when you come homw from work to find she's eaten a candle!
But other than that she is great, getting her rosette and certificate at puppy training tonight, she'll officially be trained to Kennel Club Puppy Standard.
As you can see, when we got her she was all black with just that white patch on her chest. Now she is white/silver all across her belly and on her bum too :rotfl:VSP - £14.76 | Saving for a Deposit0 -
Thought I should get back on to talking about money

I think my main problem is not being organised enough. So I'm trying to get organised with all the family things to pay out for in the next month...- Aunty & Uncle w/a (just a card - we don't buy for them)
- Grandparents Golden w/a (card & £25 - they want a new suite so all the family is clubbing together)
- Going out for a meal for Granparents w/a (£30-£40 for me and OH?)
- Cousin's birthday (card & £10)
- Sister's engagement party (card & present of some sort - not sure what!)

Puppy got her certificate and rosette last night :j:j:j
Took the £5 in my purse to classes last night and had to pay £3, got a £2 coin as my change so that went in to the sealed tin, think there is roughly £138 in there now...
I don't know about everyone else but I'm so glad that it's Friday, this seems to have been a really long week! Off to Edinburgh at the weekend to see family, think we are going to IKEA so the challenge is to be reasonable and spend carefully!
Got £3 from MIL this morning as I had bought something on eBay for her that I had forgotten about, so that was a nice suprise. Also waiting on a refund of £13.99 going in to my paypal account, will transfer that out as soon as it clears.
My sister is due me money too, but it's a bit of a sticky situation. We used to share a car when we both lived at home, but when we moved out it was hard to carry on the arrangement so I bought a new car on the understanding that she would pay me half the value of the car we already had. She is still due me £550 and although I know she is trying to pay for a wedding I still feel that she should be paying me back. She was meant to pay back £50 a month but hasn't paid me anything since April...VSP - £14.76 | Saving for a Deposit0 -
It's been a bit quiet lately, have I got all boring lately?!

We had to take the dog back the vets last night, her wound was all swollen and they thought she might have developed a hernia
Turns out it's just inflamed from her being a typical puppy and having too much energy!
We were really worried she would need surgery again so it was a relief to know it was quite normal in pups her age.
OH has tried to claim that the contents of the sealed tin will be ours when it is opened so I told him that he will start contibuting his £2 coins to it as well then. He got 2 in his change today and just looked miserable when he realised they would be going in the tin :rotfl: On the plus side that should take us over £140 now - if I've calculated correctly anyway.
I wanted to go to the Next Home sale today but OH isn't feeling well and I don't want to go on my own as we pick things together for the house. Maybe it's a good thing as I would have probably spent a fortune!

Hi Pennies!
It has been very quiet on here lately!!
Well done on pup getting her rosette :T and I hope her wound heals up soon
. It was probably a good idea you didn't get to the next sale
but it seems like you are being very organised with the pennies
.
I read your other thread about your sister and I know these things can be very hard to deal with when it's within the family but I know why you are a bit upset with her actions. I hope it resolves itself for you soon and you have a lovely weekend

Hi IfMyPenniesWerePounds,
Sorry I've been a bit quiet lately, been ridiculously busy at work and haven't had time to post
.
Was thinking about one of your posts about gifts. What sort of stuff do you buy for cousins etc? If you know a lot about them, you can personalise the gift and have a cheaper present, that means something really nice.
Or alternatively, what I tend to do is to buy a really nice card and write a from-the-heart message in it. That's not because I'm tight or because I'm cheap (though I am skint) but I do think that we've become a society that spends money on presents for people that they don't really need. A present for a present's sake. A proper heartfelt message to friends, telling them how brilliant they are and how much they mean to you, can mean a lot more than a £10 giftcard for Dorothy Perkins...
Just a thought, might not be v helpful!
