I was glad I was able to help her out but I'm not going to be making a habit of lending family money, I've made that mistake before (remember the car and my sister?!) so won't sink to that level again.
As I said I'm keeping the total in my sig as I know I will get the money back from her and it's not like I need the money for a certain date as it's for all those dreams that seem to be very far away!
Just completed another survey for p!nec0ne so that will be another £3 coming through shortly. I have cashback pending but not sure when it will become payable...probably not in time for the end of the July challenge knowing my luck!
Have been thinking a lot about my spending habits and I think I'm going to make more of a conscious effort to save and reach my targets...I think I've gotten used to being debt free and while I've been saving I've also been enjoying spending too, does that make sense?
Time to knuckle down a little I think!VSP - £14.76 | Saving for a Deposit0 -
Just requested a payment of £51.16 from topcashback so I'm hoping that hits my account before the end of July so that I can add it to my target!
That will take me to £139.92 - will still need to find £60.08  Don't think I can do it, I shouldn't have started early and then my target would have only been £155...
Nearly at the payout for a few survey sites too but not sure if I'll get the money in time!
Got a few things on eBay, but no watchers, let alone bidders!
I think I'm going to do a car boot sale in August to help with that challenge...VSP - £14.76 | Saving for a Deposit0 -
Even if you don't make the target that's still £139 extra you've raised this month so you should still be very pleased with yourselfDebt at LBM Apr 2010 £28,767 Debt free as of Nov 2013 :j0

Yeah but will it take my Target 1 total to £2000? - That is the question!
I've been bad....even though me and OH are not engaged (yet!) we have discussed on several occasions what we'd like to do for a honeymoon. We both really fancy doing Safari somewhere in Africa, so I decided to have a little look yesterday at areas and rough prices...:o
The most popular option seems to be a twin visit combining the likes of Zambia and Mauritius or South Africa and Seychelles...
The problem is that I have no idea where is best for safaris, who is best to book with and it all seems very expensive! Although granted it's not really any more than we were for Thailand or will be for Florida next year...
I know it's ridiculously early to be looking when we're not even engaged but I just wanted to get an idea of prices to see if it was even an option and if so how much extra we'd need to save...
Ideas/thoughts anyone?!VSP - £14.76 | Saving for a Deposit0 -
Safari's can be extremely expensive especially if you want a nice hotel as well.
Are you looking at luxury for your honeymoon or are you up for roughing it a bit? From the time I spent in Africa I think you get 10 times more out of it from roughing it (plus it's cheaper!) but then I was there on my own not on honeymoon.
To decide where to go you need to work out what you want to see really - for example rainy season obviously means worse weather but everywhere turns green and all the babies are born at this time so good to pick then if you want to see baby animals. It's also quite amazing at the turn of the season as all the shades of brown and gold turn green literally overnight.
What sort of animals do you want to see? For example, if you particuarly want to see cheetahs then Namibia would be one of your better bets.
If you have a lot of money then Botswana is probably one of the best places in the world for wildlife but if you don't have as much money then Zimbabwe is amazing. There's nothing quite like seeing wild rhino from only a few feet away as you are the only people to have passed through that nature reserve in the last month.
Do you want to see a particular event? Like the floods at the Okavango Delta or the wildebeest migration across the Serengeti - which would mean Botswana in June to August time or Kenya in August to September respectively.
Africa is amazing - I soooo want to go back!Debt at LBM Apr 2010 £28,767 Debt free as of Nov 2013 :j0 -
Just remembered as well - while I was volunteering in Zimbabwe there were a couple there who were volunteering as well for a month as their honeymoon. They had an amazing timeDebt at LBM Apr 2010 £28,767 Debt free as of Nov 2013 :j0
