It's great that you've started the new year with such good savings totals already, I'm sure you'll hit your targets no problem x
Debt at LBM Apr 2010 £28,767 Debt free as of Nov 2013 :j
  • Thanks Becs, last year I mostly put my VSP and any money from Surveys and Cash Back in to the ISA, then used some savings to pay the car insurance in full.

Would like to not touch the ISA if possible, not really because of interest rates (what interest?!) but more for my own sense of achievement.

Going to try really hard to beat the targets!

What are savings 1 & 2 for Pennies? Is 3 your ISA then?

  • 1 is to pay my Car Insurance, last year it was just over £500 so I have budgeted £600 and then I should be more than covered with some left over - hopefully! :o

2 is for my sister's wedding in August, to cover the cost of the hotel (£75 ) and a gift and some for her hen night too.

3 is my ISA - just general rainy day savings. OH already has £3000 in savings so aiming to get level with him...of course by the end of the year he'll have saved more so really hoping I can get over my target :p A bit of healthy competition should be just what I need to motivate me!

Well the dentist wasn't too bad this morning, only £10.20. I had £20 on me but took the 20p out of my personal weekly allowance so that I could add £10 to Target 2.

Now 6.4%/20% on the % challenge. Still waiting for a couple more direct debits to come out so that I can make some more payments to the pots!

Transferred £3.25 as part of the VSP today, not counting this as part of my % challenge though, this will just be extra cash that drips in to target 3.

Withdrew £36.39 cash back yesterday but £30 of that is OH's for his insurance, the £6.39 will go straight in to target 3.

I might need to add an extra target...my grandparents golden wedding anniversary in March, think we will need about £100/£150 for that weekend :o

Been looking at holidays too :o Quite fancy Portugal this year...

Yay for surviving the dentist :)

Your doing great on your savings Pennies.

I've always fancied Portugal, but haven't made it yet. What area are you looking at? That would be another goal to add to the list!

  • Been looking at Albufeira in the Algarve. Looks lovely and we would be looking to go late August so that leaves time to save!

Think I could have multiple targets soon! Think I will add a target for March, will call it Target A as it's due date is before Targets 1,2 and 3! :p

  • Ok, signature updated...only problem with adding more targets is the risk of failing target 3...or at least not getting as much saved as possible! :o

Speaking of weekly spend allowance, this week I have £6.14 that will go in to a piggy bank tonight...just going to let this mount up I think, haven't decided what to do with it yet! :p

When I get the £45 due to me from my Mum/Sister it will go towards Target A.

  • Moved some money in to various pots today so now 11.2%/20% :D

Targets are looking a little better now:

    Target A = £10/£150 - 6.6%
    Target 1 = £130/£600 - 21.6%
    Target 2 = £30/£250 - 12%
    Target 3 = £1100/£3000 - 36.6%
