Yeah, it annoys me all the more because she is currently pregnant (due in May) and getting married in August and so I see her spending left right and center :mad:VSP - £14.76 | Saving for a Deposit0

Hi hun,
Sorry to hear about your sister being slack again, do your parents know about it? I wondered if they could exert some force on her?. Failing that, can she not set up a standing order of something like £10 a week so at least you are getting it back steadily?
That's a shame about the student loan too, wouldn't that have been a nice early Xmas pressie?:rotfl:

They are well aware of the situation, my Dad keeps out of it, he doesn't get involved in our arguments and I wouldn't want him to.
My Mum on the other hand, well she is always on my sister's side, especially now there is the wedding and the baby, if I mention it to my Mum I get 'she has a lot going on just now, lots to pay for' or 'they're really tight for money just now'
Well she has owed me the money since April, guess I'm lucky that she's already paid me back £400 and only owes £300 nowVSP - £14.76 | Saving for a Deposit0 -
Oh this would really annoy me!
Lots to pay for maybe, but that includes what you are owed!
With the amounts she must be spending at the mo, you think she would see the £300 she owes you as a small amount to just get cleared.
I would never lend her money ever again.
Sorry, getting all annoyed on your behalf!Debt at LBM Apr 2010 £28,767 Debt free as of Nov 2013 :j0 -
Just a thought - how much were you going to spend on a wedding present for her?
If it was say £50, I would wait till that's all she owes you and then say don't worry bout that last bit, that's your present.

Lol, not sure, really hoping she's paid it all before August
My OH keeps saying that, 'you've learnt a valuable lesson, never lend money to family' but I didn't lend her money, she kept the car and I bought a new one...
Guess it's my own stupid fault as we were originally going to Florida next September and that money was going to go towards my spending money so I said that as long as it was all paid by September 2011 then it was ok. But since then she's got engaged and pregnant, that wasn't part of the deal :mad:VSP - £14.76 | Saving for a Deposit0 -
I know this time you didn't lend it as such, but OH is right, at least you would know for next time!
Hope you do get it paid back as soon as possible, it's a very unfair situationDebt at LBM Apr 2010 £28,767 Debt free as of Nov 2013 :j0 -
Sorry for a change of subject, but I'm just doing some reading on student loans for OH (he'll never do it himself!)
I remember thinking how it's unfair that the payments aren't applied till the end of the year so thought this little bit of info would be nice for you to know
Each repayment is given to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC), who pass the cash to the SLC every March. At this point, SLC applies the repayments as if it had received them on a monthly basis, before interest is calculated, so borrowers don't lose out.
Hope that helps!Debt at LBM Apr 2010 £28,767 Debt free as of Nov 2013 :j0 -
Thanks Becs, I know the interest isn't calculated but I would still much rather have the payments sent straight to the loan, don't see why HMRC have to hold it at all!
Anyway, £25 sent to the loan this morning, 48% there now and on £571.35 remaining! 141 days to go...
OH let me order the Uggs on the grabbit board for my Christmas last night, £55.47 delivered, pretty happy with that :j I'd never pay full price for them!VSP - £14.76 | Saving for a Deposit0 -
