I used to get charity (animal) mailings with 5p taped on to the letter saying send this back (with more money obviously). .

I have to say that I wouldnt have minded that too much :o I would have popped the 5p's in the penny jar. I must admit to ripping up all of these mailings and sending them back in the prepaid envelope they normally send. Dont mind the pens too much either..always a home for them here:o

I had an RSPCA fundraiser knock on my door, he gave me the usual speel. I don't object to this and I always listen but then wanted me to give him my bank details to start a direct debit to which I said I would take literature and decide myself if I wished to donate. He then got really aggressive about it at which point being a sucker I agreed to a direct debit. After his talk about £2 a month would fund x, y and z he said he couldn't take a DD for any less than £8 a month!?!?!

I stated that with a new baby and being on SMP I could afford £2 a month but not £8 he said he couldn't as he couldn't take less than £8 and did I know 'most animal abusers will abuse children too and with a new baby didn't I care about that'. You what?!?! I appreciate that MAY be true but I'm not going to blackmailed into a DD arrangement I couldn't afford on the basis of guilt. I'm sure he was a 'rogue' but they don't help themselves with sales talk like that!

I now put tins of dog food into the box at my local supermarket, give to my local hospice and put all my sons clothes he's grown out of into the Sally Army clothes banks but I'm totally disgusted by the RSPCA's tactics to get donations in my instance.
The reason that the chuggers can only accept £8 - £10 donations, is because the large marketing companies that employ them on behalf of the charities insist on that as a minimum donation. If they dont sign you up to that amount, then they dont get paid, disgusting but simple as that

When my brother died of cancer last year, I donated £50 to cancer support, I have since had a letter probably every month since then asking me if I will donate another £50 each time.
It must have cost them a fair bit in posyage!

Another letter arrived today, don't know how I can stop them and it's starting to upset me.

I doubt the rspca would really care to be honest, if they wernt interested in making you feel guilty or shock you into donating they wouldnt send out mailings with graphic pictures of animals being mistreated.

I agree its immoral, but you cant deny it brings the point home about some of the horrors that go on.
But this is why I would NEVER support the RSPCA

Sickening that this is what peoples donations pay for

I will give that a try tommorrow, it brings back to many horrible memories of how he died, I want to try and remember the good times before he was ill.
    Thanks again for that!:)

More NSPCC woes. They really are halfwits:

Card arrives from Royal Mail regarding an underpaid item - £1 charge + 32p postage. So I pay online and it's delivered today. It's a NSPCC mailshot. Apparently from our postie a whole batch were sent out without any franking nor pre-printed franking. Say goodbye to our direct debit NSPCC.

I'd spend a little bit more money (on a stamp) and write to them to tell them exactly why you're cancelling your direct debit.

From almost all the posts on here it sounds like many people are getting increasingly hacked off with charities and the methods they use to raise funds.

Contact the NSPCC and tell them.

Once again, suspect it was an agency working on NSPCC's behalf and if NSPCC realise the mistake I'd wager they would refund you and get the money off the agency

I'd bet, however, that the complaints are far outweighed by the extra income they receive.
