I do indeed. Problem for the OP and her daughter as she is perhaps now being assessed as an adult rather than as a child.

And once again I do wonder what difference money is going to make. If the cash is used for therapy then fine.

not that it matters but the money is hers not mine i use it as a weapon if u like to try to get her out of the house to spend it it also means that i find it easier to run a car to take her out whenever i can an i also pay or treat other people to look after her or do things with her whilst im at work its not wasted money she uses it well
  • she has been turned down all together

You should ask for a Statement of reasons & then ask for a reconsideration.

Try to get as much medical evidence as possible to back up your application.

In my opinion she should be entitled to at least low rate care/low rate mobility but if you can send them supporting evidence of the self harming she might get middle rate care/low rate mobility.

Don't give up as your daughter is perfectly entitled to that money.

    Good luck.
I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

  • If I'm honest the OPs DD has no physical care needs or mobility needs. There are people in a much worse position who get turned down. I have no option to work DH needs round the clock care every time we get turned down I go down a level more. Yes I do understand depression the way disabled are villified in the press, called lazy and their benefits threatened makes me ill. Some days I feel like just going to sleep and not waking up, thats on the days I get sleep. I just have to get up and get on with it.

i would like u to have to live one day in my shoe's with out the supervison in the past i have been called out of work (yes i work with various disabilities of my own to show my daughter that once we can get this illness under some control she to can work) by the hospital as my DD has overdosed again or badly cut her self again maybe the voices can help tho what u think maybe they can supervise her

Actually it probably is for depressed teenagers, however my point was that the OP going for DLA and using a justification that her daughter doesnt want to get up in the morning or wash is not going to add many points to her campaign.

this is not how i am trying to justify her needing DLA schizoeffective disorder is not about wanting a lie in

Doubt if anyone will in the future get DLA because they can't get out of bed in the morning and don't wash, even if they get it at present.

this is not the reason i have applied for DLA

    yes all together#

i did keep them informed of all changes as she was under going re evaluation with numerous people at the same time

they did actually admit that she does self harm but is in no way a danger to her self that bemused me more

If you asked for a reconsideration (as it sounds like you did) you only have 6 weeks from the original decision date to lodge an appeal - if you are still in the timeframe get a GL24 off to them asap.
  • i would just like to thank all the people that are being supportive reading this thread just now has brought me to tears

just to clarify to those that think im trying to claim on the basis she is lazy im not i would love for that to be true an her not have to go through her life like she does at present
