Help with form filling

I do need an answer, maybe I am thick, but I didnt throw any insults. If you are offended by swearing then it must be a generational thing.
If anything I think I have more right to be offended at being labelled tiresome for giving my opinion.
Meh.
I am not going to play, I have better things to do.0 -
I think that only those who have literacy problems and special educational needs should be allowed to get help with the forms. In my book, CAB and some of the charities have a lot to answer for.0

What about mentalists like me?
Having said that, I do my DLA forms myself - I just pity the person that has to read my essays!Gone ... or have I?0 -

CAB and McMillan cancer have a lot to answer for at times too. At least they dont charge though - as far as I am aware.0 -
Whilst their guides can be a lot of help for people with easily definable physical conditions or if you are filling in the forms for some one with a mental health condition.
Anyone doing it themselves who have a mental health condition should avoid like the plague and seek assistance for a local charity/welfare rights/CAB
A mental health condition by its definition (altered mental state) quite often means how you perceive yourself and your problems will be very wide of reality.0 -
moral arguments aside about getting help with the forms,
there are times when some advise or information can be very helpful
I volunteer for a childrens disability charity - it is a rare condition which most people will not have heard of until their child suffers from it.
The children have care needs well over and above those of caring for a "normal" ( hate to use the word - but you know what I mean) baby.
I am always happy to offer them advice on the types of help they can include on the form and how to phrase it so that it is clear to the DM's what the parent is doing over and above "normal" care needs.
I do find that once I have given parents my advice for their initial claim - they are quite happy to complete subsequent renewals by themselves
for some people being newly diagnosed with a disability can be stressful enough without the added worry of completing the forms in an appropriate manner
in my experience the main mistakes people make are by not including enough information about how their disability affects their ability to care for themselves and also by not getting a medical/professional person to complete the form where specified
once this information has been passed on, our families are quite able to complete the forms themselves0 -

What you describe seems quite reasonable and similar to the advice given in the accompanying guidelines. However, other organisations pretty well fill the forms in for people, based on the information given, without any consideration as to whether the information they're going on is accurate or not.0 -
I claim DLA and on two occasions was able to have the help of Welfare Rights filling in my form - I have now contacted them again, as I have to reapply but found that I do not qualify for help (can only assume this is because of our income as this was the only info they took from me) - I have MH issues and find filling in the form difficult to get the wording right.
My DLA helps to pay for the cost of someone taking my son to and from school so is very important to me.
Whereas I understand cutbacks I cant quite see how our income in anyway means whether I am ill or not
So does anyone know of any Mental Health organisations that can help with DLA forms?
