Do you think subscribing to sites like this give people an unfair advantage over people who have struggled to fill in the forms themselves?
    Honestly, yes I do.

It gives an advantage though I wouldn't say it was unfair. It's like having a CAB near you - many parts of the country no longer have a CAB within a reasonable distance so you could say that those who live in an area with a CAB have an unfair advantage.

Personally I'd rather people didn't have to pay to get decent advice on filling in forms such as the DLA / AA forms but unless you can guarantee a CAB or decently run council welfare rights office in every locality then there will be a need for the likes of benefitsandwork and it would be unreasonable to expect the site owners to run the site for nothing. Actually, some of benefitsandwork's early content (especially their excellent guide to claiming DLA) was available for free at one time on a welfare rights site but that was a long time ago. The owners of the benefitsandwork site are the authors of those DLA guides that were once available for free but I don't think it's unreasonable for them to make a small charge to access them since they are regularly updated and expanded. And no, I'm not a member of the site!

Yes, B&W provide information on how to lie about your condition, for a fee of course. They dont do it out of the goodness of their hearts.

They do not advise people to lie. I would be careful as they have already had to correct a National Newspaper on this point.

Maybe not to lie, but possibly to 'adjust' how they say things? ;)

IMO, they do, and if MSE wish to remove the post because they think B&W will censor them then they have my full backing.

Oh, good point, I've totally reconsidered my original opinion.

Yes word things in a particular way but they make a point of saying not to lie, Robbie can confirm this as he has seen some of the earlier guides.

    Quite:

Original entry to claim form : 'I was slightly out of breath after walking up the stairs'

Entry after help paid for: 'I suffererd three heart attacks and almost died'
