HTC Desire- T-Mobile problems
Dear all,
As i mentioned i bought an HTC Desire with T-Mobile for a 24 month contract, the phone is great the network coverage is dire where i live, im seriously thinking of giving it back to T-mobile.
O2 offered me a Re-Con 3GS 16GB 1100 mins Unltd Texts, Unltd Web (750mb) all for £32 for 24 mnth contract.
Wanted to ask is it worth seeing out the 24 mtnh contract, are Apple Recon products good. You think i could push for the 32GB for jokes??
To be honest, i only want it for browsing, email and watching videos on youtube. I was getting excited over the flash thing on the desire, but to be honest i don't think i really need it it was more the apps that were avaliable on the andriod that i enjoyed.
I'm a dilemma, don't want to keep a phone for 24 months and not use it's full potential.
The 3GS offer is tempting, as i don't really need a high display screen nor do i need HD Video recording, and to be honest it isn't anything new on phones. I personally think AMOLED is better than the Screen Retina display, just it performs better in sunlight, i found the colours to be better on the Desire than the iphone 4.0.
Im not keen on getting desire from other networks as they dont have it.
Any suggestions are welcome
:-)
Apologies for hogging up the space.

You don't say how long you've had it, but first question is to see whether T-Mobile will let you off the contract!
In any case refurbished products are usually O.K but can be hiccups. They will come with some sort of warranty in most instances, no idea what that is thou.
If you like the phone ask O2 if they have the Desire available- might be cheaper than the 3GS- although they should be really cheap now they are effectively superseded by the iphone 4.0 -
Hey ive had it for 4 days, having reception problems.
I am already on o2 atm i know their retention deals are'nt good like most networks, i believe in you pay for what you get. Obviously a small spend customer like me e.g. £20 pm isn't really profitable and there is no incentive for them to offer me a decent phone without paying for it.
The deal above is it bad, considering its like £45 on most networks, like i said the iphone 4.0 i don;t think to much of it tbh and i don't even need half the features.
It's a 24 month contract etc and i bought the phone over the telephone they told me there is a 7 day cooling off.0 -
I suggest you send it back while you can as that's the mistake that I did with t-mobile!
I ended up getting the phone unlocked and then going back to o2 simplicity just so I could get a signal.
As you say there retention deals leave a lot to be desired but I cant fault there signal anywhere.
And yes o2 do sell the desire so im not quite sure what makes you think they dont.0 -
most companies sell the desire as far as i am aware.
is the problem your building. what is the signal strength in your house, outside your building etc when the phone is on the table or on anyother non metallic surface and also when held. dont mention the 2-3 bars etc as that bar strength is next to useless for comparisons. mention the exact reading... you can get the reading by going to homescreen > menu > settings > about phone > network. that should give you the signal strength in dBm and ASU, network, type of connection, whether roaming or not etc. please quote that figure whenever you mention signal strength when discussing with tech support. they might not know how to see the readings on the phone (like three tech support level 1 and 2) and you might have to tell them how to see the actual signal strength you get in various places both inside and outside your building. stay away from big concrete or metal buildings as they will act as a faraday cage and stop the signals, also loads of trees and foliage and high buildings etc may attenuate the signal as well among many other things.
see my problems on this issue https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2523297 and how i partially got a work around solution by fiddling the test settings. but this might not be a suitable option for everyone. for some cancelling the contract might be the best option.
the following thread about problems some others were experiencing might interest you too https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2428501 see some links posted by others about problems on tmobile with various 3g handsetsbubblesmoney :hello:0 -
Yeh it's consistant, i haven't been on T-Mobile and yes the phone is on other network's if they had in stock!
May just stick it out with o2, is the above deal good or not good?0
