I read on the three blog http://blog.three.co.uk/2010/04/09/update-htc-desire-pricing/comment-page-8/#comments and other websites of some people having internet access problems via 3g but not via wifi. both Tmobile and three customers seem to ne experiencing this on this handset. i dont know about orange and vodafone customers.
there seem to be similar internet access problems affecting the nexus one. one can find enough posts online and looks like google have stopped investigating the issue!
since nexus one and desire are similar and made by same company, is this some hardware issue that cant be fixed?
just need some feedback from people who already have the phone whether they are experiencing any internet access problems or problems accessing mail while on 3g. havent got my phone yet and still dont know the next delivery date as phone didnt come on expected delivery date. if the internet issue is affecting quite a few people then will cancel my order.

I haven't used mine much on 3g yet but I haven't noticed any issues when I have used it.It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
From what I read about the Nexus one, Google where saying there was no update coming to fix the 3G issues is you are on T-mobile (in the USA) which basically said they thought it was a problem with the network rather than the phone. I can only suggest you try an different providers sim and see if you get the same problems. If not then it must be your network provider.0

Hi Bubbles man!
I am waiting for my Desire on Vodafone but will let you know. From what I have read people are reporting fantastic 3G coverage and speeds on Vodafone. People in the forum have noted speeds up to 7MBS with Vodafone.
I have read of problems with these Android handsets and 3G on T-Mobile. There is an uber-long thread on the T-Mobile forum about the problem. The hero handset was affected too. The problem has been ongoing for ages and sparked a thread on here about the Hero handset.0 -

I am trying to preempt the problem and avoid it. I have already ordered 2 htc desires and 11 days on still waiting for delivery courtesy of three. Later i came across on different forums / websites some such posts about network access problems on google nexus one and recently the same prob seems to be reported on desire on some websites including three blog and also by Tmobile customers. So was just enquiring if it is a common problem. If it is then might cancel my order and wait for another suitable phone.bubblesmoney :hello:0 -
I have problems with my '3' Hero and the data connection. I have called '3' and had a "we're upgrading your local network" answer and a (yet to be credited) one month's line rental refund. The operator promised to call me back on May 6th at 4.30pm to confirm that the network problems had been solved. I have no doubt that this is a problem with the hardware but I think it is exacerbated by the removal from the firmware of the '2g' option. I also only have this problem at home at the moment; interestingly when I'm at work and roaming off the '3' network the 2g/EDGE signal has no connection problem whatsoever.
I can only assume that the phone will only attempt to connect to a weak '3' 3g signal when it's available (which would not provide a good enough signal for data, presumably) rather than a much stronger 'roaming' signal be it 2g or 3g.
If your phone is unlocked and unbranded, which I understand '3' were selling to start with, you may find that you don't have this issue since '3' won't have managed to muff up the firmware yet.0 -
Bubbles... This thread (eventually) details the problem on T-Mobile:

oops forgot to mention that it may be a software glitch from htc!
some seem to be getting internet access via opera browser (from android market place) but not geting internet access via the htc browser! same people find that some of their apps get access to internet but not their htc supplied browser.
such people might find downloading the opera browser from market place useful. i read that firefox will soon get a browser for the android market place but dont know any dates yet.
hope this helps some people with such issues.bubblesmoney :hello:0 -

I also have an unlocked Desire, have had it since it was released, and have had no problems with the 3g signal as yet.0
