*sigh* Please don't try to act like a smartass. Maybe do some research before you do your fail of an attempt?

Now we go on to this being a no-brainer. The look of a phone is very important nowadays, as is the UI. If you mean 40 hours of straight use, that's a lie. If you mean 40 hours before it gets to critical battery with average use, then that isn't particularly good.

64GB of RAM is completely unheard of in this day and age.
Dialaphone order phones directly from the network, therefore they are not unlocked.

Okay, now let's move on to the reasons why you should get an iPhone 4:
    • The Retina display looks stunning.
      The App Store.
      The 1GHz A4 Chip.
      Mobile Safari
It can actually fit in your pocket, good luck with fitting the Samsung Galaxy S
If you jailbreak your iPhone, which is perfectly legal, you get into realms of Open Source third party apps and many people to help. You don't have this kind of thing with Android.

I think you're the one who needs to do some research. If you'd bothered to click my link, you'd have seen that I was actually quoting one of the comments posted on the review of the Galaxy S.

SuperAmoled display beats the Retina display hands down.
Android Market - far more free apps than on the apple store.
    1Ghz Hummingbird processor.
A wide choice of decent web browsers
Galaxy S fits in my pocket fine, thanks - it's almost the same size as the iphone 4
Rooting on androids is easy enough to do and not illegal.

Dialaphone handsets are unlocked. I got mine from there - unlocked, unbranded. The sales rep told me they sell stock handsets to go alongside contracts from various carriers, hence not locked.

Whoops you were doing so well before you screwed it up.....

Didn't want to carry on the iPhone v Android debate because it could go on forever but someone who doesn't know what's what could easily make a wrong choice based on your extremely incorrect post.
Have you seen the screen of the Galaxy S? I haven't but to quote a mobile phone review site "probably the best smartphone screen out there."
Android App store is as good as if not better than Apple's app store.
The desire and Galaxy S both run on 1GHz chips so why should people get an iPhone 4 over the Desire for that reason? The chips are even built on the same framework.... ;)
Mobile Safari what? Genuine qurestion - do Apple to allow you to have an option of web browsers or are you only allowed Safari?
Size = Galaxy S is only 7mm taller, 6mm wider and .2mm thicker, hardly massive.
If you jailbreak your iPhone you void the warranty... end of.

Oh and where you really, REALLY fall down = "you get into realms of Open Source third party apps and many people to help. You don't have this kind of thing with Android."

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Oh, you were doing so well, I almost got scared for a second. Apple allow other browsers on the app store. If you jailbreak your iPhone, restoring it leaves no trace.

And yes, I've got a HTC Hero as well as an iPhone, and support for jailbroken iDevices is much better.

I think you're the one who needs to do some research. If you'd bothered to click my link, you'd have seen that I was actually quoting one of the comments posted on the review of the Galaxy S.

Maybe you should be the one who needs to do research before posting, jailbreaking is not illegal on the iPhone. The iPhone has a wide choice of decent web browsers. Fair enough on the Galaxy S fitting in your pocket, but the iPhone's App store has higher quality apps compared to those of the Android Market.

Keep going. With every post you continue to prove what an idiot you are. I never said jail breaking an iphone was illegal. I said rooting on android phones is not illegal. I made that comment in response to your following comment:

So far everything you've said about the SGS has been BS. I don't see the point in responding further to someone who signs up to a forum under a new ID just to show how much of an apple/iphone fanboy they are. Your vision will always be impaired by the two granny smiths at the top of your nose.

i think credit has to be given where due.

the iphone4 is sleek. the screen is marginally better. even samsung has acknowledged that the retina display has more pixels than the super amoled. but pixels are not everything as anyone who has owned a digital camera will tell. the iphone4 screen needs backlighting hence the power consumption will be more for the screen. the galaxy s screen does not need backlighting hence lower power consumption. but the higher pixels on the iphone4 makes the text cleaner and no pixels are visible on the text for people with proper vision! while the desire screen has lower pixels and the text on blowing up looks pixellated but not a big issue. same pixellation is seen on the galaxy s screen as even commented on in reviews. samsung made a wise choice in going for better battery life while compromising on slight pixellation, but the samsung has deeper blacks compared to the iphone4 as it requires back lighting. the galaxy has also more vibrant colours because of the superamoled tech as per reviews available on line.

i have enough apps to suit my needs and have not had to buy even a single app till now, which wouldnt have been the case if i had an iphone and needed similar apps. majority of the people i know at work have iphones 3gs and some have the iphone4. everyone of those who played around with my desire said it was good if not better than the iphone. a few who buy everything from apple and have many iphones in the family have now bought legends etc for their children. even the one who bought the iphone4 said he would be buying the iphone4 solely because he has a mac and loads of stuff from itunes and didnt want the hassles of getting another type of phone as he was happy with the iphone. suits him, good for him. my phone suits me and good for me. i dont have a problem acknowledging if there is something better in the market. whats better for me need not be better for someone else as everyones requirements are different. the way i see it the better the phones available now, the better will be my choice and cheaper the phones will be when i have to upgrade from my desire in 15-16 months time.

Yesterday you didn't even know there was a "modding scene" for Android... so please forgive me when I don't believe a word you say when you now tell me that the modding scene for iDevices is better :rotfl:

me too - had mine yesterday, and v. impressed. Screen is superb. Very light, and fits in your pocket nicely.

    Woud love to know the following though (not necessarily all phone specific);

    - How do you turn on predictive text
    - What options are there to improve media compatibility? Many vids will not play such as mkv, avchd, etc
    - When I connect to my media server via allshare - I can download music, video etc to the phone memory. They dont seem to be shown when going into the music / video player though?
    - having deleted the weather widget - I cant find a way to re-add it.
    - Samsung facebook vs android facebook - which is better and why?
    - please please please can someone point me to a version of repton 2 on android! Itching to get this game.....

Im sure there are more questions to come! :D
