I have ordered the Nokia 3510 online from Orange, after being quoted £20 to unlock my current Siemens A55.

I told them I had been a customer of theirs for 5 years. Made no difference. Just a number in their system, and the chance for more profit.

When I receive the phone, do I have to register it with Orange first before unlocking it?

No if you just put a "foreign" sim in the phone will prompt you to enter the unlock code if you then enter the code generated by the crux unlock software (the fifth string of numbers worked on all three of my phones) and press ok the screen reads "restriction lifted" or something like that and you have got an unlocked phone

I managed to get one in Enfield yesterday. However, it was the last one in that shop. The lady in the shop said she wasn't expecting any more to be delivered as she believed the offer was set up to get rid of an "old" (!) model of phone. Dunno if this is the official line though.

Still, I am very pleased with the one I bought for my son. Got £10 off thanks to an old dinosaur phone which I traded in. She didn't even test it. Got the phone home and unlocked it using one of the great links I found on this forum. (Can't believe I paid Orange £20 to unlock my phone a few years ago.) I even read on one review website that the Nokia 3510i was impossible to unlock, but I can vouch for this: it's quite easy to do!

I've put a Virgin sim card in now as hopefully this is the cheapest option for my son, who only wants the phone for texting.

Check out the threads on Unlocking Nokias on Mobiles forum. It's on Page 3 of mobile section. I've tried to paste a link to it , but can't get it to work at all.

    Hi All,

Just a note for all who can't seem to find these phones, I was in cambridge today and Phones4U had a big poster advertising this deal across their window, so would grab it while you can!

    All the best,

    Adam.
  • I received mine from the Orange shop online, unlocked it via https://www.trycktill.com and then sold it on to a friend who wanted to upgrade. He dropped his virgin sim in and is very happy. I've now got a second on order for another friend to do the same thing. Great post. :)
...and then the window licker said to me...
