Difficult question. Most of the time, Paypal just want you off the phone ASAP so will just say what they think you want to hear. Ebay's CS are... well, useless. I'd just leave it now.Motivatedworkingmum wrote: »You ask an innocent question and all hell breaks loose! Thank you to those that are giving sensible advice.
OK, maybe not the best thing then to open cases with both parties (???), but its done now. To those that know what they're doing here is it worthwhile calling both parties on monday to ensure they don't close they're cases. There is no advice (other than what I'm asking here) saying not to open cases with ebay AND Paypal, so how are us newbie ebayers supposed to know what to do in this situation??
There may be another way though, if it does go (.)(.) up. Did you pay by credit card, if so maybe a section 75 claim could help... but it's a last resort, Paypal can close your account for it.Back on MSE after a 5 year hiatus.

See how long someone's been on here for, if they've been on for a while the chances are they know, if not they usually don't answer, if in doubt wait for Soolin.
Unfortunately for you someone's on who's spouting nonsense.0 -

I'm not your hun, or anyone else's for that matter.
I do believe for a comment to be racially fuelled it would have needed to include some reference to the race, that it was allegedly discriminating against.
Your advice is crap. Regardless of where you may or may not be from.

ok, I'll just leave it for now. No I did not use a CC.
Although in ebay I have 'raised a case' and it said "if you can't work things out in 10 days ask cust support to review case and make a final decision".
In paypal, I've already escalated it and 'they are looking into it'.
So does that mean that paypal are 'leading' in taking up the problem as Ebay are letting me have 10 days to see if the seller responds to the 'raising of the case' (so not really doing anything!). Make sense? Why did I not have the LBM years ago?LBM Dec 2008 -Debt total then £18,802.24. :eek:August 2010 - Student Loan £5526.Loan £5642 -£3000 saved towards final payment:)Balance Outstanding £8168.0 -
Basically, yes.Motivatedworkingmum wrote: »So does that mean that paypal are 'leading' in taking up the problem as Ebay are letting me have 10 days to see if the seller responds to the 'raising of the case' (so not really doing anything!). Make sense?
The "let's let ebay CS take a look" is basically the ebay version of an escalation to a Paypal claim. Ebay will be watching the case though, just might not take action on things that are said until you ask them to.
They'll probably both take a couple more weeks to get your money back, if the seller's uncooperative.Back on MSE after a 5 year hiatus.

If the case hasn't been closed in your favour before you go away you will have to make sure that you get on the internet. If the seller responds you will have a certain length of time to answer, if you miss it, the case will go against you & be closed.0 -
to those who helped me resolve my problem with this, I have a happy outcome! Paypal resolved by dispute two days ago and the money is happily back in my bank account already!! yipppeeee. Paypal were very good, although the seller got very nasty by email. There is only two ways to deal with this person
Firstly everyone is talking about paypal dispute but dont hang your hopes up on paypal to sort it out, Many sellers who i have had the pleasure of dealing with have had fake postal certifactes to prove it (Happened to me i purchased a playstation 3 for son at christmas and got the yellow light of death fault which i rasied a dispute but since the seller added "no returns accepted paypal closed the dispute")
Here is the best advice i would state to do
When you submit a claim or dispute ring them immeditley in the daytime.and ask to speak to a claims specialist and explain to them what has gone on that why in the dispute they can say buyer has called which shows more favor to you in the case then this seller.
If the seller wins the dispute you can claim damages under the "sales of goods act as items not received" this is also suggested on ebay also in disputes, but you will have to find out the sellers address and a small claims court i think. which could take a while to do but usally a good written solictor letter usally makes them think twice,Worked for me when i purchased a pair of shoes off ebay and had the seller's details by doing a whois.net search on there website to get the details and address. Which is legal to do. and was like your own suitation.
