It will be ok - a bit of a panic, I am sure, but it will be done

Good grief! Three days? Erm, that isn't a lot! I know your wardrobe is capsule based now, but even so .... do let us know on here, I'd love to know how you do it!2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Looking at my crystal balls, I see pure unmitigated panic in the future, spiced up by a few "Oh what the hell...""Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

My "project" will be to enjoy what I have got, and to make the most of life, duchy! We are very much looking forward to it

Good 'bout time you did a bit of that and reaped the rewards from the journey of the last few years.
I need to go back and read the capsule stuff-I'm of to NYC in December (last trip for a while as Josh's Dad has decided as he legally doesn't have to pay child support now is leaving me (despite assurances previously to the contrary) to support Josh through college alone-Git. More than a month's notice of his intentions would have been nice GRRRR) .
Want to travel hand baggage only-Found a fabby black and white check short coat/jacket which is thick enough with layering to withstand NYC cold so intend to build around that . Suspect it'll be a monochrome wardrobe

The biggest tasks with the sorting for the move are the loft and the garage. The house has been largely sorted this year, and will just be a case of packing it up and deciding what bits of furniture will be surplus to requirements, and to go on freecycle etc.
So, a couple of days needed to clear out the garage, much of which will simply go to the tip, and I am sure my loft is only as scary as anyone else's - a good proportion of what is up there will be old childrens toys which will go to the charity shop I reckon - anything that we want to keep, such as photos and the childrens "baby boxes" are already properly stored and boxed up, and so simply need bringing down, dusting off and putting back in the new loft.
It'll be fine :rotfl:
Today I am going to make a list of everything I can think of in the house, room by room, and determine whether it can be taken with us, whether I actually *want* to take it with us, and how it can be disposed of, if that is the most appropriate way of dealing with it!
It will be the start of my "capsule household" project :cool:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Morning!
Have you started investigating the price of removals? We were going to do it ourselves (TG we didn't), but ended up using the local family van hire company. They were brilliant on the day.
I got all my boxes from work - about 30 in all. Then put them and all the packing paper and bubble wrap I'd bought - on Freecycle when we'd moved. I gave myself a time limit so listed them a week after moving in, for collection the next weekend. It might be worth keeping an eye out for similar?
I know you'll be really organised, but in my experience, it's never too early to start packing up things you rarely use. Have a good and productive weekend

Once I have done my list of what I need to take with me, I will ring the people that moved us here to get a quote. I need to know what we will be taking though, otherwise they will quote for the whole lot.....so I am making my list as I type (ish!).
Boxes are not a problem - XOH works for a secure storage place and he has a load of boxes ready for me to collect during the coming week.
The solicitor acting for my purchaser is, I have discovered, an ex colleague of mine, who has done my own conveyancing on numerous occasions. There will be no conflict of interest as I have not asked him to act for me this time, but I am comfortable in the knowledge that I have a good guy acting for my purchaser who won't hang about. I don't yet know who is acting for the vendor of the house I am buying, but will find that out in the next day or so.
I went into DD's room last night and she seems to have packed up already!!!! I don't know what she is expecting to wear over the next few weeks :rotfl:
So, early days still, but I reckon we are doing alright so far
Am having a last "nice" day today before hitting the actual declutter tomorrow - have an appt to have my hair coloured, and then meeting a friend for a spot of (window) shopping - which might just have to take in soft furnishing shopping too
Life is good

All looking good Hypno!!! We moved earlier this year - found Flylady's moving tips very helpful - numbering all boxes, writing a note of what is in each box...the boxes you pack up first are the ones you 'need' less on a day today basis so, when you come to unpack you know it's the higher number boxes you need first!! Also, you at least have some idea where to start looking for other things when you need them!!
We were basically sorted in a couple of weeks.....but still have some boxes of clutter to sort, which we didn't have chance to sort before we moved!!!!
Good luck with it all..hope it all runs smoothly x20p Saver Club #33 60p/£100

On the boxes front, especially for books and heavier items, smaller boxes are better. OK it means more boxes to move, but it's far better on the back than ones you can hardly lift off the floor. We used numbering system and contents lists too. But putting on the box which room it's going to helps too.0
