I spoke to a Dr about the 8 glasses of water a day thing as I have had recurring waterworks issues over the years and am not good at cold drinks (the odd G&T or glass of wine aside
). I was told that as long as you drink sufficient liquid it is fine.
Someone on the TV did an investigation of where these claims came from as to how much water you should be drinking. When they asked them where their claims came from they all came back with "You should drink water to ensure you don't become dehydrated." - well duh!
But none of them could come up with any study with actual experiments. Turned out they'd started from somebody saying "You should drink a glass of water per day to make sure you have enough fluid" and just kept uping the ante each time.
It ended up being 2 litres per day.
That's what happens when people who like to see their names in the papers get over-excited.But I am a decaff Tea girl so I don't know if that makes a difference.....
Once it was decided that caffeine was a diruretic and would dehydrate you and so you had to drink 2 glasses of water for every cup of tea and 3 (possibly 4) glasses for every coffee. Then someone pointed out that the coffee itself contained more than enough water to cope with the mild diuretic affect of the caffeine and that they were just being silly.
That died a death too.Sneaks back off muttering this is probably of no use to anyone......
Since when are my posts of any use to anyone?I post enough rubbish elsewhere on this site - I was saving your thread for when I had something useful to say :rotfl:
