Hypno, I bet you feel really good about making that decision. Some things creep into our lives and become a habit before we know it. I agree about having your shower first. I found that when i started to allow myself time to do things in the morning by getting up earlier I filled all the time with pottering and still ended up rushing out of the door for the bus (back in the days when I had an office to go to that is) Turning the telly off is another good one. I dont own a tv anymore and it is amazing the things that I get done but I am still being entertained by the radio. I also find listening to a comedy show can be so much funnier than watching sometimes. I agree about the time diary. I have a friend who is constantly saying that she cant go to the gym because she has no time and then goes on to tell me all the shows that she watched on tv the previous evening. When I pointed that out she was amazed to work out the number of hours in one evening she just slobbed out. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Have you spotted the change to tesco clubcards redemptions, basically 4x is changing to 3x for deals:
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/shopping/2010/10/tesco-cuts-rewards-in-clubcard-overhaul
Might be worth doing the sums as to if the tesco credit cards are such a good deal now. Other cards with benefits might come out better.
There's a deadline for redeeming under the old 4x's deals.0 -
Hi Hypno, I agree re the shower first - it's always what I do first on work days, wakes me up for everything else (not that I leave myself much time to do anything else in the mornings)! I hadn't heard about the outdoor shoes thing from flylady before but I do find that having my shoes on makes me feel more 'prepared' for doing things - I might change into trainers when I get home, but I only finally take my shoes off for the day when I'm ready to cosy up on the sofa last thing in the evening. I think I read it somewhere as a tip for people working from home - get dressed and put your shoes on to feel like you're 'going to work'.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

Coffee has always been my priority as the first "must do" in the morning, but it looks like it might have to head further down the list if I am to get a workable stress free routine!
KC - well done on your win :j I hope you are able to withdraw your winnings without any problem!
Tesco clubcard vouchers have until 6th December to be spent on 4x deals, so when people get their November vouchers, they need to be on the ball as far as "cashing them in" is concerned. I will be happy enough with the new arrangement - 3x deals is still a pretty good bonus, given that it suits me to shop at Tesco and buy my petrol there anyway.
Re "putting on shoes" etc, I don't generally go that far, but I have started to be a bit smarter at the weekends, whereas before I wouldn't really care about what I was wearing if I was just doing stuff in the house. Now I try and make a little more effort.....just in case Johnny Depp happened to ring my doorbell and wanted to pop in for coffee.....:D
Gok Wan is in town today - couldn't get anywhere near him, so didn't get to see the great man, so just being in his aura will have to do :rotfl:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Wow, Gok! How very exciting

I completely agree with you all about doinbg priority things 1st & being in work mode. I work form home 1 or 2 days a week and have to be strict with myself as it is all too easy to sit around in PJ's (which is fine till I have to phone a client, can't really get the voice right with fluffy slippers on :rotfl:).
Hypno, DD has just got her house, so if your new regime finds you with too much time on your hands at the weekend.........
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Hypno, can you do packed lunches the night before. I know when I've had to do them in the past it's always been easier then, and also set the breakfast table with cereals etc ready. Somehow it was easier to find the extra few minutes in the evening, than in the morning when there's a fixed deadline for everyone getting out of the door. The extra bit of time did make things slightly more relaxed in the morning.
The other thing is how do you make your coffee, if it's an electric thing, could you put it on a timer to be ready when you get up?
I'd love a Gok Wan makeover, but not if it meant going on the 'How to look good naked' programme :eek:0 -
Got to look good for Gok- I agree with Se999 i would love him to do a makeover, but defo not a nikkid one.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -

Oh! I have to do something about mine, they're about to expire, and I don't really shop at Tesco for much any more.

I try much more nowadays, more for peace of mind than anything else. "What if a client turned up at the wrong time?" that sort of thing. And there's always the odd Amazon parcel :rotfl:

Cor! I've only seen a few, but I met one person who was Gokked, and it definitely made a long term difference to her.2023: the year I get to buy a car0
