why do you have to clean an oven?
getting really hot surely kills all the germs? And its basically like a big fire, you wouldn't clean a fire would you - you know if we all still lived in caves, you might sweep it up a bit I suppose.
I am clearly the opposite of a domestic goddess here, but I just wondered.

Last time I cleaned mine (which wasn't so long ago) I found a piece of charcoal in the bottom that had been a chip in a past life :rotfl:
Anyway I bought some OVEN PRIDE which I guess is the same thing. Looks like it could take the paint off a car  I normally steer clear of such scary chemicals - but needs must, so off I go.
Will report back later!0 -
Sorry - just looked and mine too is Oven pride. 'tis good stuff!
Back home from an excellent day's skiing. Extremely tired so not intending doing a great deal today. I didn't do the macaroni cheese last night, so will do it tonight instead.

Well, I got the macaroni packet out, and there was a recipe on the side of it for macaroni, cheese and bacon frittata.....so that is what is currently cooking in the oven.
I will report back on it later, and if it is any good will post up the recipe as it seems to be a good storecupboard thing.....
Have also discovered that the red wine I am currently favouring is half price on Tesco.com at the moment.......:oSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Hi Hypno,
I use a recipe from my Nintendo DS chip - it is basically boil macaroni, make beshamel and melt soem cheddar in it and stir in macaroni. Easy, fast and about 4,000 calories per serving. But my men love it. I had a baking disaster - my cakes always turn out as Mongolian tents but today's was more like Yorkshire pudding. Well, I was probably not born to be a domestic Godess.

Do the bags come with the oven pride and can you get it in Mr T? It is the 1 thing I didn't get around to tackling over the summer hols - but I HATE my oven with a vengeance. It is only 4 years old and one of the range style ones with a double oven. It is all gas and burns 'everything' on the bottom - it is as if the base of the oven isn't thick enough to distribute the heat. I should have complained at the time but had too much going on at the time and couldn't face another 'battle' - at the time I used my energy to fight different issues - as soon as I can afford it I'll buy a new cooker to fit in the space and put it down to experience. But every time I try to bake I have to put a roasting tin of wter int he bottom of the oven!!!!! I have roast pork in at the mo and the crackling WON'T crisp - I've had to cut it off and place it on the BOTTOM shelf - the hottest spot should be the top - 'sorry' had a bit of a rant there Hypno.
Glad the sun shone and you got 3 points.

Yes, the bags do come with it and I am fairly sure Tesco stock it.
The frittata is fantastic - so when I have finished chomping, I will post up the recipe.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
