I hate cleaning ovens too, especially when using the chemicals, I always seem to find there's been a hole in the gloves and the nasty stuff has got through

Just wondering
why do you have to clean an oven?
getting really hot surely kills all the germs? And its basically like a big fire, you wouldn't clean a fire would you - you know if we all still lived in caves, you might sweep it up a bit I suppose.
I am clearly the opposite of a domestic goddess here, but I just wondered.

I have to clean mine because of the carp that spills on it - I have got better though and now put tin foil on bottom and so really only clean racks (very occasionally)
