I did enjoy it, actually, mac - I relaxed into it I think and just didn't stress over it, and as a result I was quite comfortable.

According to the Runners world calculator, this means I should be able to do my marathon in 4 hours 46 which would satisfy my desire to be under 5 hours....so it is a great confidence booster for me, and will give me the incentive to keep running throughout the winter.

Ooh I didn't know there was a Runner's World calculator! I'm going to check that one out as I need to beat 2 hours 17 now! :D

Actually, my friend says getting a PB is difficult at the GNR as there are so many people it's hard to get into your stride..... I'm just going to take it steady and go at my own pace (if poss). Or as David Vine used to say "Start slow and get slower" Sounds about right!

I am sure you will beat my time mac - your runs are much faster than mine.

My time for GNR (in 1992 mind) was 2 hours 7.....one of my best!

Spooky - that is the time it's predicted for me!

I doubt I'll be faster, I'm a good 2 stone heavier than you :o I'm relieved I'm doing it alone, then I can go as fast or slow as I need. I don't want to get caught up in the moment and go out too fast - urghh, feel terrified just thinking about it!

I was 21 when I ran that time - I have challenged a friend to do the same half marathon next year that I did today and I want to do 2 hours 10 which I think is achievable for me at my advancing years :o

I also want to do a 10k at under 60 mins which I haven't done since pre-children and obviously the marathon under 5 hours......must train harder must train harder must train harder :rotfl:
