You are always welcome, P, but unless you want to arm yourself with power tools and put up blinds, I should be alright - DD is not at school now, so I have enlisted her help :D

It is just the kick up the backside that I need really to get the place in order again, to be honest!

I have done a menu plan and a shopping list, so will do an online shop at lunchtime. So I have made a start!

That is pants, P, but as you know, I am Queen of All Battles Uphill :D

I have long since come to the conclusion that they don't have a clue about what they are doing......simple as!

Done online shop to be delivered on Saturday pm - £159

Seems that the £20 in my grocery envelope has been somewhat busted. But of course, I can't feed students who are essentially here "on holiday" on such a tight budget. Anyway, I am still going to be quids in, and everyone will be eating well for the next few weeks. so it is not all bad :o It had to go on the CC but when I get the student money, I will transfer an equal amount back to the CC to pay it off.

Not quite "speculate to accumulate" but not far off the general idea!

I'm not excited about the students as such, more the relief at having some money coming in. And also to use it as a test of myself, and what I am capable of on my own, and what I want to do. If I enjoy it, and can handle it, I will consider making different use of the space we have again, and consider having more of them throughout the year.

So, we shall see, but at the moment it is a bit terrifying!

Just went for a walk at lunchtime to walk off the "scariness" of my shopping bill.

But then I realised, that it is for 5 people, for 2 weeks, which covers three good meals a day, and also includes "boring" stuff like washing powder, bleach, dishwasher tabs, cat food etc, and it still only works out at £15.90 per person, per week.

So, actually, that is pretty darned good, I reckon :T

Abso- blooming- lutely hypno! Bl**dy well done there. And of course you'll do fine on your own. The children are older too and understand (haven't they always?) that the students will make it all much easier financially for all of you. Give your son a gong for volunteering to sleep in the cabin and dd for helping with the housework. Your ds also cooks doesn't he so you'll have lots of help.

I felt just the same about numbers, if I had one student invading our personal space why not 4? That way maximum cash for minimum time and not much extra hassle!

Have you allocated the extra cash already? Is it a split between holiday and skiing??:T

The money won't come through until after our holiday, so that will carry on as planned, on a shoestring budget.

Hopefully, the student money can go towards some sort of a ski holiday for all of us.....but of course the car has its MOT on Monday, so the best laid plans for cash and all that might kick in yet :o

How very sensible of you Hypno to treat the students like a job! Sometimes the only way to motivate yourself is to imagine a scary boss with a big stick...

And I'm well impressed with the shred thing. I've lost just over a stone with slimming world, but stopped going a couple of weeks ago (for largely financial reasons, and I also didn't like the new bloke teacher fella) - knowing what you've achieved is a good motivator to keep going! :)

Cocalls, so glad to hear your little one is growing! my nephew was 4 weeks early, and I thought he was tiny! (he was actually over 6lbs, so rather large for someone so small!)
