Caz the HV decided against it because although they'd be supervised while doing the work, they would still go away knowing what i own/lack of security system/the fact i'm a single woman... etc.
I think the council run a handyman scheme but it's strictly limited to elderly people who absolutely definitely have no able bodied family close by.0 -
Weezl might know this, but is there any reason not to give liver to babies?Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

Beenie - Have you tried searching for local skills swap? Sometimes people offer handy man services in return for something like ironing/cake baking.... not sure if there is one round our parts.....Wealth is not measured by currency0

Sometimes its a bit of cleaning etc, or if you're lucky some of the jolly old boys dont even want anything back, they just want entertaining away from the missus when its raining and they cant get in their gardens :rotfl:Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
Just looked at the site, seems to be only in the south where they do that. I am a bit wary of having random strangers in the house though. I think my best bet is probably going to be for the ex to come for a few days and he can take the kids out for the day while i crack on, at least then he could do the hard bits and advise me? I really want the hearth out but my 'mother' said i should do as little as possible if i am wanting to move!! She has a point but i am trying to get it sell-able in case i can get a swappee to view??0
