Lets just hope that I can get a job sorted and get settled in before he definitely decides he is too old! How long do you have to be somewhere to get maternity pay these days?

Is it 26 weeks? Sorry I don't know
You'd get MA tho wouldn't you cos of your NI contributions even as a self-employed consultant?
Great he likes the idea too, I'm glad

Morning everyone

Hiya Beenie, nice to "see"you. Im not on a limited profile for you, so it might just be a glitch?
My FB is set to stupid privacy settings and i dont know how to edit some of them. Ah well , at least no one can see my profile
We're going for lunch with the baby group today, im nervous as im not really a 'group' kind of person.
We're getting our PAYG gas metre fitted today :j I hate monthly direct debit.
Lily is being a stroppy moo at the moment, she keeps shouting at me in her telling off voice and throwing her toys around
She's only 5 months not 15! :rotfl:
I just found out my new friend/neighbour is a photographer. Maybe i can get some pics of Lily done :cool:0 -
 the shop downstairs from us has recently changed hands - from a shop selling overpriced cheap import jewellery from China run by a bitter old chainsmoker to a shop selling overpriced cheap import jewellery from China run by a bitter young chainsmoker with two small children, who she brings to work and allows to run around shrieking up and down the stairs of the apartments area and in the courtyard. Our bedroom faces out onto the courtyard and those little monsters keep disturbing my little monster.
But I have finished my first work thing for today and the beastie is at least nominally napping, so I am off to shower and then collect things for the post office and *then* send an important email.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

My driving intructor has asked me to take my theory test soon... I think that means I'm making progress <eep>
Mfd, you can get maternity allowance as long as you work so many weeks within the qualifying period... I lost my job when I was 10 weeks pregnant with Aimee and just scraped through with qualifying weeks... I think most places like you to be there a year if there's any kind of enhanced pay...
With decorating, I've just always done it once the children are in bed if it's a main room... Although I'm still waiting for DH to paint the hall, stairs and landing and they'll just be done while the children are shut out of the way...
Nice to see you Beenie and Weezl
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

In my experience MFD you basically only have to be employed before you get pregnant. If you are self emplyed you get MA but you can't work while you are receiving it.
Beenie that is a lot to do!
I am thinking about painting our living room as we have just signed another year's tenancy. Not sure what colour though, we have a dark beige suite but the carpet is a 1970's patterned green / red / blue / yello / pink thing  DH wants to get a new carpet but I'm reluctant to do that as I probably want to move out next summer. We could always get a big rug but would it look stupid with the dodgy carpet at the edges of the room? I dunno!0 -
Ah yeah that's another thing with Amber, she's been waking up within 10mins of putting her in her cot, and nothing will get her back down and the only way to shut her up is to let her come back downstairs where she'll sit sucking her fingers on the couch until she falls asleep. Usually this is around 11pm...
Not sure what happened there!!0 -
hi everyone,
haven't been on since last week, so hope everyone's had a good weekend. Just trying to catch up now - hugs to Mel and Caz and anyone else who needs them!
Tia - I think your letter sounds like a good idea, just see what happens...
MFD - Hurrah for secret news!!!!
Well, Freddie slept fantastically well on Saturday (so well, in fact, that I suspect daddy may have added something to his milk when he did his last feed on Friday night!) - I had to wake him up at ten past eight!
However, he made up for it last night and woke up at; 2.30, 3.10, 3.30, 4.00, 4.25 and then wouldn't go back to sleep. Our walls are so thin that I daren't let him cry at night as he will wake up all the neighbours (I know as I hear them talking!), so I ended up taking him out in the car at 5am in my pyjamas and driving him around until he eventually fell asleep at quarter to 6! I just hope no-one I know saw me!!!!
Oh, and in other (non-sleep related) news, we tried F on some baby rice yesterday for the first time. the face he made was quite a picture, but he got really excited, and his arms shook madly!
Working hard in the hopes of being 'lucky'

Our living room looks terrible at the moment - we have a beige rug with a cream floral pattern which covers the space in the middle in between all the chairs. Then the carpet is a dirty stained terracotta-ish coloured carpet. The patchy paintwork and lining paper with air bubbles under it don't help either.Sarah_Joanne wrote: »We could always get a big rug but would it look stupid with the dodgy carpet at the edges of the room? I should add that it was a repossession which is why it's a bit of a state but it's better than your average repossession - some we looked at you would have had to strip out all the woodwork incluing floor boards and hack off all the plaster just to make them liveable in.Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

My house is just manky cos it's a rental! The floorboards in the living room are amazing old wide ones and if it were our house I'd be binning the carpet and doing the boards up. But it's not and I'm not putting all that work into it when we won't be staying here. Plus it's a bit tricky with all the dust etc now we have Alfie.0
