I'm looking at getting T a swim seat for when we go swimming (well duh lol) There's a few different types. Any advice/suggestions on whether it's worth it and what I should be looking for? We didn't have one the first time we took him but DH was with me. It would be just me and him next time.Mummy to Thomas born April 27th 2010 8lb 5oz0

I took Jack to a local pool during their baby session and they had teh Boots swim seats which are £10. He sat like a prince in gis throne while I just pushed him around.

I'm not sure about swim seats, Gill. Henry has Water Babies lessons and loves the water, but when he's in his swim seat it's almost like he doesn't know he's in the pool! He can't splash the water in his face or anything like he usually does, but then he obviously does enjoy being in it and they do make life much easier when you're on your own.:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0

mindless rant
listed two things on freecycle today....
one woman said i can collect asap at lunchtime, i emailed her back to say i was in all day but please let me know a rough time, no response and i now want to go to bed, but i'd be pished if she turned up now....
second one i listed some half used packs of nappies in size 2, guy comes round to collect for her wife, whose neighbour is looking after a baby over weekends for someone who is suffering with pnd really badly, only to find out that this "baby" is 10 months old, after i'd already given them to him. I thought maybe he must be mistaken.... no way is a 10 month old gonna be in size 2's.... but now im really annoyed because they could have gone to someone who would actually use them!

Grr, my day has got worse
We've got a gas leak so National Grid has been out and our meter has been shut off. My uncle who lives 100 miles away (near to SM) is a gas man and is coming on Tuesday to fix it, luckily.
The downside is that it's going to cost us a good few hundred, which we can afford so that's not a problem, but we found the most amazing house this afternoon, which is several tens of thousands above what we think we could probably afford. However, we were going to sit down and try and work it through in case there was a way we can get it. A £500 repair bill isn't going to help
Oh well, I'd much rather be safe and leak-less than not safe and running the risk of being blown up!0 -
Even my teeny tiny bubba wasn't still in Size 2 at ten months!0

I've just been looking at the boots one funnily enough - it seems to have really good reviews. Was it one of the Warrington pools and if so would you recommend it? I'm going to try the ones near me but not sure how baby friendly they're going to be. Also the health visitor told my friend that none of the Trafford pools let them go until they've had all of their jabs.
GISI - thanks for the advice. T loves splashing and kicking so I think I'll probably use it when my arms get tired. I'm thinking it will probably be handy to pop him in on the fitting room floor while I get changed as well!Mummy to Thomas born April 27th 2010 8lb 5oz0 -

It was Woolston Leisure Centre it's on the council website. It was good and was quite warm in the baby pool. They had loads of stuff to play with and also have an instructor on the sides if you wanted to dunk like I did *evil mummy*

Oh no I didn't - I was skim reading cozI was in a rush. I'll read back now.
I know Woolston well (grew up there and had swimming lessons in that pool) but I haven't been for aboutj 5 years. Might look at taking him there then I can go back to parents and wash hair etc while parents look after T
ETA thanks for the offer - is it the lindam one which requires screwing in? If it is OH said I wasn't allowed it lol. Trafford has the other lindam one with the suction thing so I just bought that for £15 as it was still the cheapest I'd seen. Although we haven't measured up yet to see if it will actually fit so may be going back anyway!
I bought the car seat along with this to take it up to £25 for the free delivery. My mum was going to get him something similar for Christmas so she's going to give me the money and put it away until then.
I don't think I'll ever dare by anything FP in the baby event again!Mummy to Thomas born April 27th 2010 8lb 5oz0 -
Gill - we have the mothercare swim seat here, T loves it and it's v sturdy in the water. Altho I got ours off eBay for £7 it still looks brand new.
