I just send Katie into the living room and blitz whatever it is as fast as possible - I then get a little voice saying "finished yet, mummy?"
It depends what I'm doing - some things are okay but a lot of things make her cry and it can take ages to calm her down again. A couple of weeks ago I tried grating 2kg cheese after she'd gone to bed and it woke her up and made her cry.

Actually, that reminds me. Ages ago, some people were talking about baby ear protecters for festivals. Where does one find such things? It would be really useful if I was able to use the food processor at times other than when Alice is not in bed and OH is at home to look after her.

Now the weird thing is he is ok with that if its me and him making cakes but if OH uses it to make things he doesn't like it.. Says he didnt enjoy yesterday and wouldnt join in but he was telling OH all about it when he got home..

Breakthrough the other day though as he has now accepted the fan being on and wants to put it on all the time.

Alice is okay with the vacuum cleaner if she has her toy one to join in - I think it distracts her from being scared.

Some things she's okay as long as we tell her they're going to happen but not if they come without warning.

I don't know what it is with Katie and certain sounds - she doesn't mind the fan.

That's what I do with Katie, I warn her so she can get away from the noise - if I don't warn her after I've finished she comes and tells me off!

In public toilets if there is no warning regarding the hand dryers she disappears into one of the cubicles to hide.

Susan, there are a few on ebay - I think the recommended brand is Pilter or Pelter or Pelton or something like that.

    Edit: PELTOR!!

    SS, Molly is so sweet!

S doesnt like noisy things like the hoover or food mixer. I just do them anyway and ignore him :o
He has got better as he's got older, he now stands on the other side of the room looking worried and shouting MAMA, MAMA, MAMA until I stop, then I get a cuddle!
