Uhhm... not really silly, probably ok. What will 10 year old be expecting from his holiday? will you rent a car or anything?

On way to bed now anyway but I am sure it will work out excellently :)

    Lovely pic Bruno:)

How typical is this, I managed to get T settled and in bed for ten.o.clock and within less than 10 mins K started waking/coughing/crying....We perservered to get him settled back in bed but he was whimpering and crying so he is now downstairs with us, if it isn't one....... In an unrelated matter;), I have now cleared my wardrobe and all my maternity clothes and post pregnancy 'large' clothes are ready to be listed on eBay, along with 3 bin bags full of baby clothes, boys and girls from newborn up to 12mths. DH is very proud of me:D I also have 3 bin bags of clothes to go out to the charity collection people!!

We are off to the docs tomorrow, me for my review, my 6wk check and I am going to try back on the mini pill...maybe? I will get a double appt and get K seen to aswell. I need to try and get this book finished within the next day or so, I am sure he is eager for my assessment.

MFD - very jealous of your holiday, I hadn't heard of Santorini before but just googled it, it looks beautiful:)

He said as long as it is hot and he gets to swim every day then he is happy just to hang out with us and Benjamin :D

He is a very good 10 year old - we very rarely hear him moan or say he is bored (only child - used to being in adult compay a lot).

We will probably rent a car for a couple of days - not sure you need much longer to do the island really. Mostly we will hang around in the morning and wander aimlessly in the afternoon - we are big walkers when we are away.

Edit - thanks Mel - it is a beautiful island.

  • Morning all - walking dead here this morning. Izzy was sick in the night, so we've had a second night of no-where near enough sleep, as she also had a raging fever, and wouldn't let me leave her until she was properly asleep. So now I have to call my Mum and see if she can look after her today - no way I can send her into nursery. Then off to be a zombie juror. Hoorah.

Oh no, ladybird, I hope Izzy feels better (and you get some sleep!). Is it just a bug do you think?

Good night for us here (finally!), except someone woke up at 5:45 with a leaky diaper, something that's only happened once or twice since he was born!

  • Ta Aless - we both have a cough, so I don't know if it is that. She has been off colour for a while, and I've been blaming it on teeth, but maybe that wasn't the whole story! She is a lot better this morning - temperature is back to normal. Still not quite herself, but we have already had a tantrum because I won't let her bang her shoes on the tv, so she can't be that ill ;)

My parents are going to do the honours today, but I'm going to ask when I get to jury service if I can go home again if I'm not needed. ~Otherwise I might have to lie on the chairs and doze in the corner in the jury waiting room.

    Morning all!

Pukey baby is back to normal. She did only eat half her breakfast though (this seems to be a trend with meals at the moment) so I'm keeping an eye on it. Is it possible that it's normal to want to eat less?

Gill - what I did was learn a tiny bit about BLW and a tiny bit about pureeing and then stuff it all and do what the hell I liked and whatever suited Benjamin.

When you just make it up as you go along then life is easy :D Apparently there are 'rules' about weaning but nobody told Benjamin about them so he won't judge me for it!!

We still do whatever we fancy - Benjamin can wield a spoon but so can I.

IMHO you need tons of patience to do full on BLW I am too impatient for that. And I am too lazy to do purees. We just made up our own rules :D

Sounds just like me - lazy and impatient lol. Thanks to everyone else who shared too, some really good advice there. :j

Hope everyone had a good night. T woke up at 3ish but went back to sleep again and didnt wake up until 5.50 :j I could do with him sleeping an hour longer but I guess 8.15 to 6am is pretty good going for a 3 month old lol. This seems to be his new routine since he went into his big cot

Gill, here is a great place to start: http://babyledweaning.blogware.com/blog/GettingStartedFingerFoodBasics/FingerFoodBasicsMonth1 . But one of the basic tenets of BLW is not starting too early - baby needs to be able to sit up fairly independently and be able to grasp food and put into its mouth by itself - all of which usually doesn't happen until 6 months, so usually BLWers are also ones who wait until the 6 month mark ;).
IIRC in the original research they started at four months and found that they didn't start actually consuming anything until six months. I think the key theory behind it is that the baby will be able to feed themselves if they need it (or conversely if they can't feed themselves they don't need it). Although some people wait longer than six months before starting.
