I get low rate, I had a medical, and I have a blue badge.
it depends on each council who give them out if you was on high rate mobility they just give you one no questions or any info from doc....
im guessing you have walking problems not just mental health

ive already explained about 5 times in this thread

i dont want it for disabled parking spaces, full stop. i dont want to take up designated bays somewhere like a supermarket.

i want to use it on double or single yellow lines in urban places like town where the nearest car park might be a mile away.

walking through town is like emotional torture to me :(

it would make my life quite a lot easier if i could just drop by the oharmacy or whatever, pick up my prescription and just get in and out without having to see many people.

bipolar, ocd and anxiety all have there own individual disabling features

You can't say it clearer than that. :)

Yup, I'm blind too. I've just asked the DLA folks to reassess my claim because I think I might be eligible for higher rate. I use my badge the way idvi would.

so it because walking through public places is torture for you ...
this should be delt with by medication and counsellers not by issuing more b/b...this is not addressing your problem only patialy adressing the symtoms..i really have nothing against you personaly but this issue of able bodied people needing mobility help i just dont get

blind can get b/b regardless of mobility but being blind is a lot different from being scared to walk through town ..i think if you applyed you would get more than you are getting now good luck with it

meds and counciling take time, blueb have a limited about of time they can be used if this would help while that help is given then why not

okay then - lets reverse it

why should you have a blue badge? after all, clearly if you go around a supermarket or whatever your only parking 10 meters closer, as you eleqentally put it. what use is that extra 10 meters to you?

is it because you are in discomfort, pain, it is more difficult etc.?

well, those 3 things can be manifested in physical OR emotional ways equally.

so based on your logic, why should you get a blue badge? (exclude the extra space for a minute because not all disabled bays have extra space, nor do on-street disabled bays or single/double yellow lines)

im not saying you shouldnt, but by applying your logic you would disqualify yourself.

counselling is useless, ocd and bipolar are genetic problems.. medication is unhelpful at best so its just about making life more comfortable now. the problems cant be fully treated or go away, so its a bit like 'occupational therapy' sort of.. anything that makes life a bit more bearable.

    they are permanent, disabling disabilities.
2 esa medicals passed successfully (support group - it can be done!!)!! :j

It's difficult to explain and, with respect, difficult to understand if you don't suffer mentally. I could give you an example; when I was younger I had a massive panic attack in town and in my confused state I ran into the road and was hit by a car. Luckily there was no major damage, but could have been worse. Had I been able to park right outside the shop and be in and out quickly I would probably not have panicked.

There isn't room in this thread for a real discussion and it takes me ages to type stuff! :D

the reason help is limited for councelling comes down to money...now if all the wasted money which is spent on some dla b/b where it is really not justified then that money could be spent on more councillers for m/h sufferers which will then mean they will not be to scared to walk across town but will be able to lead a normal active life........let me just say...when i fell i felt like s**t my legs were no longer mine double incontanance i know what deppression is..but speaking to people who had higher injeries than me i knew i was a lucky one ...so i just sucked it up and played the hand i was delt

have you read the other posts?

it has nothing to do with councellers, councellers cant help my kind of problems.

i already have psychotherapy group (better than a counseller) at hospital every monday but thats more learning to accept everything and make a few simple coping stratergies. its not going to fix the problem at all, i still need some things to make life easier. bipolar and ocd never go away, they are permanent and disabling

your right, throwing money at it doesnt fix the problem, what good would an extra £18 be? - a blue badge is a tangible helpful thing that doesnt really cost the government any ongoing expense :)
