MSE is an affiliate for People Tree so it's likely to promote Goody Bags even though I honestly doubt the retailer has anything like the stock to actually supply the number of orders that might come through.

Since Goody Bags are a bit hit and miss it seems, it's worth knowing that if you return your goods you will have to pay postage to return it since it states so on the retailer's website but your refund should be the original full price that you paid. So the cost of returning is just your one return postage charge if that makes sense.

But hopefully you won't need to return yours.

I'm just an ordinary member of this forum. I've missed where MSE have been promoting them. Perhaps they have elsewhere? (no idea, not overly bothered anyway).

I think that the goody bags can be a great buy, else I wouldn't have started this thread, but know how frustrating it can be when you don't get what you want.

I've mostly been happy, so will continue to buy (when next available).

People Tree has been in MSE's email a few times. I would guess this generates a lot of interest which is why sizes are so often out of stock.

It's also not clear how much you are out of pocket for returns. If there is a free post to return plus you are refunded in full then you're not out of pocket at all, which is how it should be.

noooo you are wrong...

if you return a goody bag at your own expense then you still receive only the goody bag cost minus their original postage cost to you...

if you return goody bag with the freepost address then you still receive only the goody bag cost minus their original postage cost to you...

People Tree needs to change its terms because under the Sale of Goods Act distance selling retailers have to refund you your full price including refunding postage you paid to receive your order. The law says they have to put you back to where you were so to speak.

Distance selling retailers have to say if customers are responsible for the cost of returning goods, which People Tree does on its website. If a retailer does not specify this, then you can ask for your return postage to be refunded as well.

If you specify before you order that you need an item by a certain date, for example for a gift, and the retailer agrees but then does not deliver you can actually claim compensation on top, always remembering to be fair to the poor retailer!

Worth knowing you should only be out of pocket for the return cost with Goody Bags, and if there is a freepost address for returns, not out of pocket at all.

Hope that helps the few with more miss than hit Goody Bags.

As they are fair trade, I'm not overly bothered about claiming postage back, unless an item was faulty. If I was returning because I didn't like something, thats different, as goody bags are a bit of a lucky dip, although generally good.

People should use the freepost address for returns though.

If you say you're returning your whole order under the Distance Selling Regulations they DO refund their postage to you (and they did with me). If you don't return the whole order they don't have to do this.

I see there are 2 size 8 bags in stock now, I'm resisting ordering one as I suspect they are returned bags from the current batch. I will probably order when the next batch is in though.

Tempted to go for an 8, as my size 10 stuff is on the large side.
