Make sure that you weigh with the packaging, I've come unstuck several times & undercharged as I forgot about the packaging.

What type of scales does everyone else use please?

I have just got a set of £10 cookworks ones (digital) from Argos. They remain at 1g out at most when checked against PO scales.

You can use bathroom scales for heavier parcels. Weigh yourself holding the parcel, then weigh yourself without and do a bit of maths. As has been said use the packed weight.

I have managed to set up a system where I gather everything to sell together, take photo's, then weigh. I usually make a note so I can refer back to this if I sell anything similar. It's also handy for oversea enquiries - you don't have to get it all out to weigh and measure again! I then add 50 -70p to cover costs, any bubble wrap/tissue paper/card if used etc. Yes, bags found on ebay are great - save time and are safe. I have received far too many ripped paper packages from ebayers. Oh and don't forget return address labels. Vistaprint always have good deals - approx 240 labels and only pay for postage!! In four years of ebaying haven't had a lost package yet, including overseas!! (Nearly 900 feedback, 100%). I hope it continues!

Never thought of doing this way - doh! Always trying to balance things on scales and hold with a fingertip!

Oh, and why is it when I offer PICK UP ONLY do ebayers want these awarkward things sent??? Childs pushcair was the worst, I've never used so much bubble wrap in one go and it took me over an hour to wrap! I always say never again, but still do as I want to get rid of the stuff!

There is an eBayer called skarlettnoir (or very similar) who does laser printed return labels very cheap (no connection other than satisfied customer).

    hi again,

Just a quick question all the mailer bags have white slots on to stick the printout of the order. As I don't have a printer will it look bad with an empty white pouch and then the buyer's address written in black marker pen?

    thanks - a ebay 'virgin'

I just usually use a good quality black permanent marker pen and slip the printed invoice in with the item.
