What is acceptable to wrap items in as a seller on Ebay

Hi everyone,

I am nearly ready to start selling all my old bits and bobs on Ebay and I just wondered what to wrap the stuff in when I post out to buyers.

I'm reluctant to shell out on a load of fancy paper but likewise feel I can't really use last years Xmas paper....:D

Could any experienced sellers please chime in with their thoughts and if you don't send it wrapped nicely does this have an impact on your ratings......

Thanks very much

Dee

Depends what you are selling. I use either jiffy bags or plastic mailing sacks as they are quick and easy . I don't have the time to faff around with wrapping things in paper and brown paper is surprisingly heavy and can push the postage up anyway.

It depends on the item I'm sending, if its soft like clothing I usually wrap it in a clear plastic bag and then brown paper, but I've had many items delivered with the paper torn, so if its a higher value item I usually use a jiffy bag. Or bubble wrap and then brown paper, but I always cover the edges well with brown tape so it cant rip.

The bags off ebay are a godsend! I used to spent hours packaging up items with brown paper. Now I just pop it in the bag and seal! Jobs a goodun!

Are you really a seller? Most of us value our buyers.

Hi, I've bought a few clothing bundles lately and most arrived with a mile of parcel tape or sticky tape wrapped around a carrier bag - damned hard to open. Last week I even had the postman laughing with a recorded delivery parcel sent in a black bin bag.

I mainly use mailing bags (purchased from ebay) or some rubble/garden bags I bought from the local pound shop. I was going to buy some tissue paper for some more expensive dresses I have but have not found a good enough deal yet.

It's nice when sellers go to the trouble of fancy packaging (even had a green & blacks chocolate in one package) but tbh I'm not a repeat customer and I haven't (or can't remember) buying twice from the same seller; so it's a bit wasted on me, lol.
I must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:
