Well Well Well, How Strange, I too have just received a 'vip slot' from my original E mail to NEXT complaining about the unfairness of the system!!!
The first responce from them was the following..............................I complained again!

I am sorry that you were not selected to receive a priority e-mail to place your order over the internet prior to our Sale.
We use the selection criteria below to determine the volume of customers that we can invite to take part in our VIP Sale:

You must have received a copy of the current season's Directory.
you must have an e-mail address registered to the account and have previously agreed to receive marketing e-mail literature.
The remaining credit on your account should be greater than £300.
You must have placed an order this season and must have previously ordered online.
You must have a Next Directory Flexible Account and payments should be up to date.
However, meeting this criteria does not guarantee a VIP sale slot for all customers.

I do hope that this information is useful to you and that you will continue to shop with us in the future.

After thinking I wasnt going to get a VIP slot as nothing on my account and friends had got them already lo and behold I got an email this morning telling me I did have one. The only difference being it is for tomorrow night or Friday whereas friends got the earlier ones of tonight. So it seems that there is still chance that others will get them today too.

Can you please sign into your account online, locate 'My Account' and use the option for e-mail details. This will allow you to update your e-mail address. Once added, this will ensure that you are included in all of our general promotional mailings.

After being told by CS that I hadn't been given a vip slot and endless logging in I had given up but a Vip invitation email has just arrived!!! Booked my slot for Friday, not sure there will be much left but pleased as it is the first VIP slot I have ever had.

I've emailed Next to ask them to close my account. Not had a VIP invite for the past 4 sales, but my friends get them for each and every one. I did meet the "criteria" set by Next so think my account is blacklisted. I'm off to spend my hard earned money elsewhere :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I work for Next and I can confirm that our sale strts this Sat 17th July, but it actually starts at 5am!!! So for those desperate for a bargain, it means a very early start!

I don't remember so many people cancelling their accounts at previous sales due to not getting VIP slots - I wonder if this will make Next reconsider how the slots are allocated? I'm not aware of any other companies who operate such sale schemes.

Or at least if they are going to keep it in operation the criteria should be published in advance (I am aware the current criteria are different to criteria they have used in the past)
