Regardless of the pavement question, the bin wagon will either need to reverse in or reverse out of that close. i wouldn't want my car anywhere near when they do that.

What has the pavement got to do with it? Some of you seem to be missing the point.

The fact he is parked on it and not only causing an obstruction to the refuse freighter but also to those using the pavement and those trying to exit from the junction - I dont think I am the one missing the point sarahg1969.

However, there clearly is a problem with the OP's parking, or the council wouldn't have taken issue with it.

:rotfl:Yep I think we have established that! :rotfl:

Obviously, if he were not parked in that specific position, half on the pavement, then he would not be causing the obstruction to the vehicles on the road. However, the fact that he is on the pavement is of no interest to the council, clearly. It is his positioning on that part of the road that they take issue with.

Have you bothered to look at the pictures http://img256.imageshack.us/i/img7968q.jpg/

There is plenty of room for dustcarts, most of these modern estates do not have room for enough cars.

Yes I am on the consumers side, we are the customers and should be looked after.

It is a bit naive to say the picture is how it looks on the day & time a dustcart turns up.

Just a thought, but maybe there is more than one VW Polo and one Van in the road when the dustcart turns up.

Maybe more houses own cars and park half on the road/half on the path and clog the road for the dustcart.

    What do you think???

Agree, some people seem to be assuming that no other cars were parked on the road/pavement etc at the time and no other residents were give this polite notice too. If, for example, a car was parked opposite to the OP that time in the morning it would be make it impossible for a bin lorry to gain access.

You have missed a bit, unholyangel. The law quoted by the Highway Code is the Greater London Council (General Powers) Act 1974, which, surprisingly, relates to London only. .

Actually i havent missed a bit. I know it said should, hence why i said not supposed to instead of not allowed to. Further, doesnt say on directgovs website it relates to London only. Its in regards to the Highway Code of waiting and parking for motorvehicles............not just London.

Still doesnt change that he's also parked within 32ft of a junction either..............and i still retain the viewpoint that he is lucky to not have received a ticket.

I think alot of people are missing the point that the council seem to be complaining about the location when compared to the opposing junction.

Parking off the kerb would exacerbate the issue.

So not commenting on the ops pavement parking when the road is wide enough to not need to, they need to move the car. Even if its to the other side.

Remember the highway code says cars should not park within 10 metres of any junction:) (i am aware this isn't law, just good sense)

I think the obstruction is that the lorry will want to reverse into the culdesac to pick up the bins but at the moment the binmen will have to walk up wasting time due to the parked car.
